The soon-to-be former President Obama will take his last flight on Air Force One after the soon-to-be President Donald Trump takes office, the White House confirmed.
Citing tradition, White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest confirmed that President Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama would be leaving Washington D.C. on Air Force one after Donald Trump’s inauguration.
The pair will leave the White House for the last time aboard Marine One before Air Force One takes them someplace warm, according to their plans.
Obama has referred to his post-inauguration plans for years.
“I know what I’ll do right after the next president is inaugurated: I’ll be on a beach somewhere drinking out of a coconut,” he said in 2014, during an interview with Tumblr.

Tain't Marine One just as it isn't Air Force One, as others have said, the call sign(s) is/are reserved for the 'sitting' President. Don't know what is used in their place but if it is used as M-1 or AF-1, then it is one more devaluation attached to this President.
Just thought to ask, is Obama taking TOTUS with him? They have had such an intimate relationship over these past 8 years.

So AF1 takes them from the White House and drops them off for a vacation somewhere warm. I’m assuming his SS goes with him.
But he has to pay for actual vacay, right? And he has to pay his own way home, correct?
I wonder if they’ll fly a public airline or rent a private jet to get back.

Seriously, they just spent close to a month in Hawaii, and now they HAVE to go on another vacation, and it had better be warm.
Leaving on Air Force One is suppose to be a symbolic gesture that tells the American people the transfer of power has been completed.It's NEVER used as a send off for a 'family vacation'... Obama knows this...he is giving the finger to the dignity of the transfer of power.
Obama and his family should take the uber to his new home...
He and his family should leave for a vacation on his own time and dime. Obama should NOT use Air Force One after becoming a private citizen. The symbolism of the President leaving on Air Force One was never meant to show a cheap way to start a vacation.
If Obama's planning on inserting himself in the new Presidency he'll show himself to be a quisling relative to our traditions and beliefs... He will further weaken the democrat party. This act by Obama will reflect poorly on the black community too.
The black community struggles with the perception they're lawless and lack respect for civil society. Obama does NOT need to reinforce that perception.
