The Supreme Court has turned away former Minnesota Gov. Jesse Ventura's bid for reinstatement of a $1.8 million verdict in his defamation case against the estate of slain Navy SEAL and "American Sniper" author Chris Kyle.
The justices did not comment Monday in leaving intact a decision by the 8th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals to upend the verdict.

Great news for Kyle’s widow. Glad.
Why does Alex Jones let this guy on the air..?
Kindred spirits?
Because Jesse makes Alex look calm, reasoned and rational.
Kyle's autobiography was the basis for the 2014 film "American Sniper." Ventura, a former SEAL, took issue with Kyle's claim that Kyle punched Ventura at a California bar in 2006 for offensive comments about the SEALs.
Ventura said Kyle made up the entire incident and that the book damaged Ventura's reputation among former SEALs.
A jury had sided with Ventura.
The case could return to Minnesota for a new trial.
With one flick of it’s pinkie, the Supreme Court tips the Jesse Ventura file into the garbage can.
Maybe they should pay Ventura for the damage to his reputation. His reputation is worth about 2 dollars.
Actually Kyle’s widow was never on the hook for that. It was covered by Insurance, so the Insurance Company is the winner.
If he did, perhaps Kyle's widow could send him what it's worth.
I hope he goes for another trial and gets the two cents.
Yes! Ventura became the left’s anti-military person based on his time as a Navy Seal, but he did it for money.
“Actually Kyles widow was never on the hook for that. It was covered by Insurance, so the Insurance Company is the winner.”
I could swear she had some liabilities beyond the insurance coverage.
Alex Jones is a 9/11 Truther, he was always against the Iraq War, and believes in conspiracy theories.
Did the “American Sniper” make up the story abotu punching Ventura?
Almost certainly the answer is “YES”.
Was Ventura’s reputation damaged within the “SEAL community” as a result?
Probably, but to what extent is open to debate and hose of us outside of this tiny community won’t ever really know. (Or care).
What this really is about: This is a clasic “penis-measuring” contest type of situation between members of a special ops-type, testosterone and bragaddocio-riven subset of military and ex-military (caveat: although ex-military myself, I am not a member of such a group, but I have known enough members of the “special ops” community to be able to arrive at the above conclusion.)
Was this $1.8M worth of damage to Jesse’s reputation?
In a sane world, of course not. But we don’t live in a country with a sane legal system, more like one with a “lottery” legal model .....
Jesse, time to go get a real job. Maybe they’re hiring down at the carwash.
There are 100’s of old balding hippies that look like Ventura. It was shown that Kyle lied at other times. Maybe Kyle got Jessy mixed up with another old balding dope smoking hippie.
Regardless of whether Chris Kyle’s widow or an insurance company might have paid this judgement, Ventura never deserved it. Jesse was making an ass of himself and pissed off a bar full of Navy SEALs. Kyle’s book merely documented the results
Like I said, there are 100’s of old balding dope smoking hippies that look like Ventura. Kyle was wrong.
Call Jesse what you may, but he is not a liar. He was proud to be a Navy SEAL. I watched him in the 1980’s when he was a rassling KING. Very proud of his service. He and the Golden Boy, were tops.
big baby, yes, liar, NO.
Agreed. Great news for his family.
I am not sure they can do that.
I think this would be it. When the supreme court says no...I think it means the end of the road.
