General Motors has no plans to change where it produces small cars because of criticism from President-elect Donald Trump, the companys top executive said Sunday night.
CEO Mary Barra said the auto business has long lead times for where it produces vehicles, with decisions are made two to four years ahead.
Last week Trump threatened on Twitter to slap a border tax on GM for importing the compact Chevrolet Cruze to the U.S. from Mexico.

My money is on Trump in this battle. Gee does GM supply any vehicles to the government or military - are they not a defense contractor? Perhaps the GM engines that are used by other defense contractors need to be looked at, hmmm. Grumman uses GM engines in US Postal Service trucks, etc etc, hmmm. I bet GM stands far more to lose than they realize. Time for Trump to play hardball with GM.
Next!
The American taxpayer bailed GM out.
Now GM doesn’t want to hire them?
Really?
Who does GM expect to buy the cars, Mexican nationals who are here but can’t work for GM either?
“TONE DEAF!”
All Trump has to do is tweet, GM will never make America Great again. Watch how they will change their tune.
GM can afford to be generous motors when they know the taxpayers will bail them out.
I’ll never buy another GM product.
Again, GM flat-out lied. The Cruze sedans from Mexico are still being sold in the USA. And not by any means a tiny fraction of sales. They’re at many dealorships in large numbers. If GM wants to stand by their statements, they should pull the Mexican-made Cruze sedans from USA sales floors. Otherwise, they should not be calling Trump a liar for saying they’re selling Mexican-made Cruze sedans here.
Cool. Another reason to not drive a Chevy.
Just got the 2017 1/2 ton 4X4 with the 6.2, it’s got some power. 420 HP.
Government Motors does the Government Lies....maybe Trump can find a way to actually get them to pay us back for the bailout - another big lie by them....
NOt planning on purchasing another vehicle BUT if I did, I assure ,GM CEO Mary Barra that it would not be a gm one.
Chevy builds a great pickup still. Been driving them since I was ten.
