I don't think the judge "gets it" at all. She's not the judge in a criminal case or a sentencing hearing. She's in a bail hearing, where the guilt or innocence of the suspects has yet to be determined.
In fact, I'm wondering if she's actually tainted the case against them by making statements that could easily be seen as prejudicial.
