Police have responded to a shooting inside Fort Lauderdale / Hollywood International Airport Friday afternoon.
Details have not been confirmed by police, but early reports indicate as many as seven people were shot. Former White House Press Secretary Ari Fleischer, who was traveling from the airport, tweeted out following the incident:
You know, the strange thing is that a foreign-sounding, very intense man called in to Rush's show earlier this afternoon, and talked to Mark Steyn, who was guest hosting. The caller was from Canada, and he said that what the US needed to fear right now was what would be coming into the US from Canada, given the large number of Muslims who had just been admitted into that country. Interesting coincidence. Or was it?

Yes. In the US you can check a gun, in a locked box, inside your bag and you may have ammo in the bag as well, but not in the box. That’s how I travel.

Broward Sheriff in press conference and the FBI SAC say there was only one shooting location and the suspect was taken into custody without incident, no other shooting at the airport. Only one shooter.
Wow. Shep just said firearm can’t be loaded. So either the ammo was in his bag, or someone left it for him in the bathroom.

News 8 covering press conference - Single shooter, alive, undergoing questioning, no other incident at this time, other terminals undergoing searches & clearing slowly. Only shots fired were by shooter.

For all the third world bashing people do around here, I was never worried about this in any Indian, Thai or Singaporean airports. There are times when you NEED to be seeing the guys with the machine guns on your side.
