President-elect Trump won't get any help from the State Department in implementing Israeli-relation policies opposed by President Obama before his inauguration. "The short answer is no," State Department spokesman John Kirby told reporters. "You have one president at a time."
Obama's team invoked that axiom to justify high-profile foreign policy actions in recent weeks, notably his decisions to sanction Russia over the election year cyberattacks and to allow the United Nations Security Council to condemn Israeli settlement construction.
Kirby's statement extended that principle to barring any aid in helping the Trump team prepare to move the United States embassy to Israel from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem or recognize Jerusalem as the nation's capital.

Kirby will be the first to go.
I agree he is actually right.
Sometimes doing the right thing seems like a no-win, but good leaders will do the right thing anyway. Not everything is about winning or losing.
Long past overdue to drain the State Department Swamp of all them lefty and establishment critters who have cost this nation trillions with incompetent policies, and also tarnished the image of the United States worldwide at the same tike.
“Mr Kirby will be packing his s**t on Jan 20”
Mr. Kirby IS a piece of s**t! Imagine, that a$$hole is a retired Rear Admiral from the US Navy! What a disgrace to the uniform he has been.
Reason enough to shutter State and back to what the founders envisioned!
Time to start firing the entire State Dept.
I’ve long suspected it was run by red commies anyways.
He talked a lot about it. You better believe that anyone that cares for Israel voted for Trump, and it was a very large reason they did. Your assumptions are just flat out WRONG.
Fire ‘em. They’re sucking off money from taxpayers and not doing jack.
A very large number of these azzholes are going to be in the unemployment line on January 21...and rightly so.
It really pains me to admit this, but without Snowden and Assange you would likely today be looking at the Inauguration of Hillary Clinton, and a future of political serfdom.
It fell to a couple of shady characters to start doing the job the press in this country stopped doing long ago.
“You mean those cowardly narcissists who damage America then run and hide? “
Did you forget the sarc tag? Because these two guys should be brought home and given a ticker tape parade.
“Exactly, no injury is done to them by moving them as long as they get the same pay. “
I am in favor of building some outpost consulates in remote locations and staffing them with these miscreants. I mean it’s high time we had consular services in the Yukon and Northwest Territories of Canada as an example. Minimally heated tents would work.
I respectfully disagree. I think moving the embassy will send an incredibly powerful message on a number of fronts: it would signal that Trump's departure from the status quo is for real; it will signal that Trump will not accept the Left's toleration of any terrorism, even politically correct terrorism such as that perpetrated by Palestinians; it will signal to the Palestinians that there is no future in their society's widespread toleration and celebration of terrorism; it will drive the Left, inside and outside of the USA absolutely nuts; and probably many other reasons. I agree that it is not the top priority but I think it would be good move and one that should be made promptly.

Possibly, but don't complain in the future when criminal slimeballs come after our guys.
Not sure I like this post-principle world...
Two weeks. Two weeks and this nightmare is over. The State Department is perhaps the largest and worst swamp to drain.
I agree.
Thank you. I was just about to respond to Alberta on this.
