(Washington Examiner) At any given time the United States has an aircraft carrier deployed somewhere around the world, usually in a hot spot such as the Persian Gulf or the Western Pacific.
But for the first week of this year, for the first time since World War II, no U.S. aircraft carriers were deployed, anywhere, a Navy spokesman confirmed. The USS Dwight D. Eisenhower had been in the Persian Gulf, contributing airpower to the counter-Islamic State campaign in Iraq and Syria. But it returned to its homeport of Norfolk, Va., on Dec. 30, after a seven-month deployment. And none of the Navys nine other aircraft carriers was on deployment.
It’s only literally top secret information. Hillary says no big deal.
Hillary is the one who told on TV what depth subs can dive. It was previously classified until she opened her fat mouth to a reporter.
Total BS. Aircraft were grouped together in anticipation of possible sabotage by infiltrators, and a smaller area is more efficiently guarded. Everyone knew there was a possibility of an attack, but not when or by what means or forces. Blaming Roosevelt for that is as valid as blaming G.W. Bush for 9/11. Which some whackadoos do, still.
Tridents are always on patrol along with attack subs. I sleep better knowing those guys are always there.
If the crew is properly trained it can be underway in less than an hour. Personnel ashore can be ferried out by chopper to join the ship.
Of course, if the missiles are already flying when the word comes down all bets are off.
The enemies of Israel all know, or at least suspect, that they will lose all their seats of government and military bases within an hour of attacking. Seeking martyrdom and the return of the 12th Imam may make that a moot point.
Like they (someone in or connected to the Navy) shouldn't have let out the info that no Marines = no nukes, about 35 years ago. When our nearby naval ammunition depot went from Marines to rent-a-cops at the gate, even the hippie protestors knew to stop showing up.
Our tour guide absolutely showed me the readiness of our sailors and the hardware that they could launch on any short notice if needed.
I love our men and women that keep us strong. I’m still on my high for how much those sailors love us civilians when we visit their boats. I want to sign up, but at 46 years I suppose I can only give my moral support.
The CVs are in four geographically widely separated locations, including one forward-deployed in Japan.
This link is great. According to the link, the statement that all the carriers are home is confirmed.
We all need to be careful of “news sites” like the Propaganda Guard that rehash old news and don’t check for current updates.
The USS Carl Vinson (CVN 70) carrier strike group (CSG) sailed from San Diego, California, on 5 January for a deployment to the Western Pacific region and Indo-Pacific theatre security co-operation efforts.
Accompanying the carrier will be the embarked Carrier Air Wing (CVW) 2, embarked assets from Destroyer Squadron 1, the CG 47 Ticonderoga-class guided-missile cruiser USS Lake Champlain (CG 57), and the DDG 51 Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyers USS Michael Murphy (DDG 112) and USS Wayne E Meyer (DDG 108).
