President-elect Donald Trump has fired, effective Inauguration Day January 20, every U.S. ambassador politically appointed by President Barack Obama, according to a report published Thursday night by the New York Times.
The Times reports the State Department sent out a notice on December 23 informing the ambassadors of Trumps order. The move sent shock waves through the diplomatic corps as some ambassadors in previous transitions had been given time to leave their post for personal convenience.

>What they fail to realize is that this is Trump strategy it puts pressure on the Senate to approve his choices quickly.
Also, these are the politically appointed Ambassadors, figureheads really, and the real work in those countries was done by staff. If anything, these embassies will probably function just fine if not better while the replacement Ambassadors go through the confirmation process. Any hot spots likely had career diplomats in place anyway. DJT can always send out a special envoy where necessary to bridge any gap.
Get rid of them all. No more tyrannical tsars, no more left wing jerks running everything.Pruning the tree of liberty and killing the vines and awry root systems will help all of us to breath better without methane bags.
So they are getting a POLITE two week notice just like any job. Anyone complains there's the door!
I think GWB did not do this in its entirety. Any incoming President can change a large number of staff at all agencies and ambassadorships.
GWB, setting the ‘new tone’ (whatever that was), did not replace all the staff, keeping a number from Bill Clinton. When he tried to remove a few later in his tenure, the left and the media accused him of ‘breaking the law’ (he did not).
Trump should replace ALL staff that he can under the law as an incoming President. This includes staff from obama, GWB, clinton, GHWB, etc. DRAIN THE SWAMP
This must have been a slew of faggots now without a job.
Obama loved poking other countries in the eyes.
Love Trump!!!!!
“”Political ambassadors, many of them major donors who are nominated by virtue of close ties with the president, almost always leave at the end of his term; ambassadors who are career diplomats often remain in their posts.””
I wonder how many are “political appointees” and how many are career? Doesn’t give him or his team much time to replace them but maybe they aren’t in any hurry. Does anyone know what countries will be affected? There were some countries mentioned in the article and supposedly those are the ones with “political” appointees or why mention them?
Congress could dissolve all of their courts.
“”Usually, career officer Ambassadors are left in place. It is unusual that they would be replaced.””
The article says “politically appointed” are being told to leave. Career officers are not to be affected supposedly.
It’s almost like payback for what he did to the poor families of those Russian diplomats. Gave them 72 hours to get out of the country. Russia had to send a plane for them because they couldn’t arrange transport that fast. If those 35 diplomats and families could get out in 72 hours, I imagine these political ambassadors can do it in 2 weeks-when they knew they were done anyway.
Thanks for that. I wondered about that in another post and I was going to go look it up after I’d finished the replies here. You saved me the trouble.
They felt like the ambassador really poured salt into the wound when he conducted a “marriage” ceremony for same sex couples on the grounds of the embassy.
So now we're initiating "payback" on our own diplomats on Putin's behalf?
Lovin’ it.
Thank you Jesus and thank you Trump.
It may be morning again in America.
LOL you brought back hilarious memories from a short time ago :-)
We are off to a great start. Next dump all the AGs.
Pretty confusing. We’re not seeing the same thing. From your link and that’s the first term only, I don’t see the numbers you referenced except the “188” as total positions and I have no idea what that means. I can’t see anything that totals 188. 135 and 55 don’t make it unless perhaps the 2 exceptions (1 recess and 1 nominated) were taken out of the 135? Which brings up another question - aren’t they all “nominated?”
Beats the heck out of me. I just wanted to know so now I have a picture of just how many (I think) are involved. I love seeing the “political” ones so marked. I’ve been fighting some winter “yuck” so no need to worry about my sanity.
1st term - 311 are career and 135 are political according to this. The 2nd term are 55 political and 138 career....

Not my diplomats since I didn’t vote for them. This is Trump cleaning house, and doing it in a nicer way than Obama did.
Maybe Caroline will help Hillary with her run for Mayor of NYC.
