I’m in Chicago. Hate crime laws should be repealed. Criminals should be punished because of what they did, not because of what they were thinking, when they did it. That victim’s physical pain would be the same, if he was attacked because of his race, mental problems, religion, or any other reason.
I totally agree.
Furthermore, if we are going to bring race into everything, it needs to be done equitably. I propose that a news organization gets two choices:
1. Leave the mention of race out of every crime report.
2. Specify the race of every victim and perp in every crime report.
