South Philly is all you need to know...
Such a shame. When I was stationed at the yards in 87-88, I lived in a brownstone on Tasker St. Was still a decent Italian neighborhood. Us guys that shared the place would walk down to the corner bar and get those 70 cent drafts, and if we walked by a house that was cooking something good and was overheard remarking on the wonderful smells emanating from the household, would often get invited in for dinner if they had seen us before (I guess we looked too skinny to those ample Italian madres!)
REMOVING THIS POST, ADMIN MODERATOR, WON'T ALTER THIS TRUTH.
So go ahead, do your ineffectual best to silence the truth in a misguided attempt to protect FReepers from "violence". You are, in fact, doing the opposite. Why?, you ask?
For as long as we cannot discuss this like grown-up adults, we will continue to be the victims of this like ignorant-assed little children.
Either we get them or they get us. The decision is ours. At the very least, it should not be theirs.
I get along quite well. I am also one of the 1,000,000 Pennsylvania residents who've taken action to be able to defend themselves legally.
Or, West Philly, or North Philly, or the Eastern area closer to the Delaware River. Center City and downtown are usually nice.
Used to be absolutely the safest part of the City. Most of the Italians must have moved away.
