Just wondering: Did Obama impose sanctions on China when they hacked the federal government’s personnel system, obtaining personal information on 4 million Americans? Why does the alleged hack of the DNC outweigh that?

No he did not. No sanctions, no public criticism.

The only announced reaction was to offer people who’s personal info had been hacked one year of free credit monitoring.

To the Dems it is everything to maintain the charade. That hack exposed their true nature. That is why the messenger must be destroyed. If the messenger cannot be identified the left will make up the boogeyman. It deflects any attention being given the message. Quite telling that none of the info from the DNC hack has been refuted.

Because they need a distraction - a way to deflect attention from the content of the emails, and a way to explain to their supporters/donors why Hillary lost.
