Military power is, and always has been, the ability to take and hold territory. We have not been in that business since 1945.

An Iranian air attack on Israel would write FINIS to the Iranian air force and probably its navy.
At this point there is nothing that Congress can do much less would do, to hamper anything Hussein desires to do. NOTHING is assured over the next month, not even Trump making it to the 20th.
If Ike was called back after leaving port then something is truly afoot.
A conventional attack by Iran on Israel might just set back Iran a bit. With no navy or air force they would not be quite so credible. On the other hand destruction of their air and sea arms might well serve to free up assets t go into their Obama-approved nuclear program and speed it up a bit.
Ike apparently put out to sea then got called back. That, if it is the case, is suspicious as hell.
Why not? The rest of the world’s governments know it all. Everybody who counts has satellites and very good cameras.
Trump will have to clean out all the social experiments on the military or anything else he might do with it will be of limited effectiveness.
