It’s stated in the article that after an attack people tend to coalesce around the leader. I have no reason to doubt that phenomenon.
She’s directly the cause of the attacks by doubling down again and again with her insane policies.

Germans have taken their cue from Merkel who waited a full day to address the German people after the terrorist attack. A survey by Stern magazine, found that only 28 % of those asked agreed that Germany’s asylum policy contributed to the Berlin attack, while 68 % saw no link at all with asylum policy.
There’s no trouble at all, keep it up jihadis, they seem to be unimpressed by terrorism. Likely accepting donations to bring in more Tunisians and Somalians to go on the dole while they plot to blow stuff up or go on a raping spree.
