Debbie Reynolds Dead at 84
TMZ ^ | 12/28/2016 | TMZ

Debbie Reynolds -- who rose to stardom in "Singin' in the Rain" and quickly became a staple among Hollywood royalty -- died Wednesday as a result of a stroke, TMZ has learned ... just one day after her daughter Carrie Fisher passed away ... this according to her son Todd. Debbie was rushed to a hospital shortly after 1 PM when someone at the Beverly Hills home of her son, Todd, called 911 to report a possible stroke. We're told Debbie and Todd were making funeral plans for Carrie, who died Tuesday of cardiac arrest.

Debbie famously divorced Eddie Fisher in 1959 after his affair with Elizabeth Taylor. Debbie married 2 more times in 1960 and 1984. She played iconic roles in "Tammy and the Bachelor" and "The Unsinkable Molly Brown" ... for which she earned an Oscar nomination. Carrie's relationship with Debbie was the focus of Carrie's semi-autobiographical book, "Postcards from the Edge," which was later adapted for the big screen, starring Meryl Streep and Shirley MacLaine. Debbie's survived by her son Todd, who tells us, "She's with Carrie."

Sad, met Ms. Reynolds in Vegas 20 or so years ago. She was engaging, bubbly, bright and a very impressive individual.

So sad! Her heart was broken.

I can’t even imagine planning for two funerals.

Prayers for the family.

Oh, MamaB....I am so sorry to hear this.

My sister lost her ten year-old son to cancer and has never been the same. Nor has her family. She and her husband aren’t the same; their other son went from being a Grade A student to having problems with drugs. It’s just not the natural order of things.

My prayers are with you.

I hesitated to reply because I don’t want to send out energy....But may one of the funniest ladies in show business...”Dimples” on Hot in Cleveland...live for a long time.

It would be great to see Ms White appear in another brief performance or commercial.

I will truly be sad when she passes.

Very sad. Debbie was one of the truly good people among celebrities. A class act all the way.

Godspeed, Debbie. You will be sadly missed.

I think I watched Singing in the Rain one night in college because it was required in my film class.

There are very few movies that you see once, and yet you can pick up a lot of the tunes. That is what is meant as “iconic.”

Her work was good. And boy, did she catch a lot of arrows in her personal life.

I'll always remember her in one of the most iconic musical routine in Hollywood history. Good Morning from Singing in the Rain."

Most likely stress induced congenital heart issue they both may have had.

Takes a lot out of you when you have a child die doesn’t matter the reason, you are still first and foremost a mom.

Todd is the 1 left hurting the most as he lost both mom and sister. Prayers up for strength and courage.

My BIL’s daughter is married to Bernie Kopel (Love Boat Doc) who was Debbie Reynold’s close neighbor. Their other neighbor is Chuck Norris.

This is Debbie in the wonderful 1962 American frontier epic, How the West Was Won, one of my all-time favorite movies, with Jimmy Stewart as the male lead. She was so beautiful. The scene where she and her sister had to dig graves for their parents, who they drowned after hitting rapids while pole-rafting down a river with all their worldly goods, was heart-ripping. That kind of thing and much worse was how many white Americans, suffering to build this country out of wildnerness, got their privilege.

So sad.... I guess she wanted to be with her daughter. Rest in Peace. Singing in the Rain is arguably the greatest Hollywood musical and she was wonderful in it.

I wanted to let yall know my words of advice were proven true. I was on FB yesterday and a cousin's granddaughter posted the news about my cousin's wife death. She was at home and had a massive heart attack. She never knew that she would not see the new year. She was our family genealogist and had gone all over the country finding our history. She was a minister's daughter and a great Southern Christian lady. We will miss her. I had been thinking about her for the past few weeks and planned to see them when I went back to see my brother and his family. Too late. So, yall do things you want/need to do before it is too late. RIP Libba. You were one of the best. You were loved by many and will be missed.
