Former South Dakota State standout Zach Zenner has been in the NFL for two years but hasnt made much noise. That was until last night when Zenner had the best game of his career.
Zenner had career-highs with 67 yards rushing yards and two touchdowns in Detroits 21-42 loss to Dallas Monday. He also added two catches for 25 yards to his statline.
The SDSU alumnus ready to play with an impressive 38 yards rushing and 25 receiving yards on the first drive. He finished the drive with a rushing touchdown on a nice cut back from the seven yard line.
Two possessions later Zenner, rushed for 16 yards and ended the drive with a hard run up the middle for another touchdown before half ended.
But things took a turn for the worst....

He did well, though he had fewer chances in the second half. Hope he keeps taking full advantage of what the defense gives him.
It’s a good story, but the Lions run game is a joke.
Are you saying this guy is the best RB the Lions can find?
Was pulling for Cowboys, but this kid had a good night.
Cowgirls have one of the weakest schedules in the NFL. They will be bounced in the first game of the playoffs.
The Lions run game is a joke while this kid with obvious talent sat the bench all year. He should have started day one. His college career was simply phenomenal. Stupid organization.
Cowboys 43, Patriots 37 in SB LI.
Typical stereotype about a certain type of running back who’s just as fast as many other backs. The story says “He isnt going to be running away from anyone or juking anyone out of their shorts” I remember Zenner running 75 yards for a touchdown against a Top 10 or so ranked Missouri team that had future NFL defensive players. .. Christian McCaffrey was the best running back in big-time college football the last two years. He had hardly been recruited out of high school. He would have never got the chance at Stanford except that his dad was a Stanford star and Pro Bowl receiver for the Broncos, and that he had the grades to get into Stanford. .. Now, he’s expected to be a first-round draft pick, but some of the “experts” are saying he should be a slot receiver in the pros. There’s only one reason people would say that, because he has excellent speed, vision, strength, cutting ability, etc.
There is a similar story in the Moneyball book. There was a guy that some old-school scouts were working out who didn’t fit the stereotype of a speed demon. The scouts refused to believe the 60m times they clocked him in until they ran him against two stereotypical speedsters and the guy smoked them in a three-way 60m.
This reminds me a lot of another player - Jordy Nelson. He had to walk on to a college team, and still doesn’t get a lot of ‘press’ as one of the premier receivers in the NFL.
I love this guy. So humble, such a great work ethic and attitude.
Against the Lions???? That ain’t much to brag about..........
Zach zenner plays for the Lions not against them.
Yeah I love the theory that the Cowboys haven’t played anybody. Green Bay. Baltimore and Minnesota all had top-rated defenses until they played the Cowboys they all lost and they don’t have top rated defences any more. The Cowboys weakness is their defense. their offense Is For Real they will be a contender.
Zack has also been accepted into medical school. He had deferred his entrance but is continuing to do research while playing for the Lions! One of the Detroit papers had a feature on him in the past week! He’s just a terrific kid!
What the heck did they go away from the run for after the first quarter??
Shows how much I detest the Lions that I don't even know their players nor do I care.........I'm in the metro Detroit area.......
With that being said,
Zenner had career-highs with 67 yards rushing yards ......two catches for 25 yards to his statline.
And that's all I'm going to say about that......LOL!
Link to the Zenner medical career article!
Not jokng at all. Weak sched. Only good team they played beat them....twice.
