Famed lawyer and liberal icon Alan Dershowitz, a professor emeritus at Harvard Law School, is blasting Barack Obama as an “appalling president” for stabbing Israel in the back, with his decision to allow the U.S. to abstain from, and essentially support, a U.N. resolution last week.
In an interview with Fox News, Dershowitz said:
“What he (Obama) did was so nasty. He pulled a bait-and-switch. He said to the American public: This is all about the settlements deep in the West Bank. And yet he allowed his representative to the U.N. abstain, which is really [support] for, a resolution that says the Jews can’t pray at the Western Wall, Jewish … students can’t go to Hebrew University, Jewish and Arab patients can’t go to Hadassah hospital, Jews can’t live in the Jewish Quarter, where they’ve lived for thousands of years, and he’s going to say, ‘Whoops, I didn’t mean that.’

I like Alan, he’s a lefty no doubt but he’s a pretty fair lefty. For instance, he acknowledges that the 2nd amendment guarantees the right for the people to keep and bear arms. He just believes that we need a constitutional amendment overturning that right (I guess my question to him would be how can you overturn a right? The rights pre-exist the constitution and is only enumerated and protected by the 2A).
Anyways, Alan needs to realize that most Dems are no friends of Israel but I do believe that this would not have happened if Hillary would have been elected. I think Obama is doing this to complicate Trumps presidency. I was surprised at some of the members on the council right now. It’s not the bat$hit crazies that voted for this. There was Britian, France, Japan, Ukraine and even Egypt. I thought Sisi was a friend of Israel. What’s going on here?
Its funny. Jews always vote D in mass. Not quite like blacks vote D. But close. I was arguing with a smart jew a few years ago, he had graduated from MIT. I was asking why he would support a guy who was so anti Israel. He said, Obama is getting bad advise on Israel. That is such crap. But I hear it everywhere. Obama does not understand the middle-east at all. He doesn’t understand the Arabs either. Obama thinks he knows Arabs because he grew up with Muslims and lived in the neighborhood with Chicago Black Muslims. But he does not understand that all Muslims are not the same. There are Arabs and those who live around and with them. And then there are all others. Obama would not last a day in most Arab countries.
Most people had Obama’s number the day they were introduced to Reverend Wright.

Opportunistic fence sitting is convenient for Dersh because it leaves his genitals open to abuse young teens.
And as a constitutional scholar, Dersh knew Barry was not eligible in 2007.
I still don’t get why Jews vote overwhelmingly Democrat election after election when it is the conservatives that have their backs with regard to support of Israel.
As a conservative, I’ve run the gauntlet of mocking and ostracism even in my own extended family. It’s hard. But my beliefs about the world are much deeper than theirs. Even though you can’t argue with them because “racist,” which stops arguments as fast as when your opponent mentions his alien abduction. I’m glad I’m “out” with the extended fam, but at my child’s Jewish preschool I am still a closeted Trump voter. I just wasn’t in the mood this year to endure the arrows and looks and whatnot from a new group.
Re the question of Israel: my most “progressive,” activist wealthy cousins do not support Israel much these days. Even though we have some Israeli relatives. The progressive do gooders will love the culture and food but NOT Bibi and the politics. They are disgustingly close to pro-Palestinian and would attack you if you suggested it. They would call themselves “fair” but what they are is brainwashed from their liberal sources, like CNN or universities. They are so superficial and easy to influence but they don’t see themselves that way.
The difference between my liberal Jewish relatives (who just served pork and crab at a recent wedding) and Orthodox Jews is the careful study and thought necessary to be an active Orthodox / traditional Jew. Studying, questioning, learning Torah means that Orthodox Jews put current events through a much more discriminating filter in their brains. Not always, lol, but mostly, logic and common sense and morality are filters that allow the orthodox to distinguish truth and justice better than the Jews whose Judaism stopped the day of their bar Mitzvah.

Sorry, Alan Dershowitz is NOT a liberal icon. Or more accurately, he is the kind of liberal "icon" that people on the right love. In this case, calling him a "liberal icon" is conservative wishful thinking, sort of like when the NYT calls David Brooks a "rock-ribbed conservative".
The left does not recognize nor owe any allegiance to Dershowitz. He has long since abandoned the left. He may hold some liberal views, but let me assure you that you will not find him being interviewed as the standard bearer of leftist views on leftist media outlets.
In other words, Dershowitz is a leftist that we on the right think we like, or he is something of a LINO (Liberal in Name Only).
