In a couple of gloating pieces here and there, some in conservative media have laughed at and mocked Harvard professor Larry Lessig after reports on the Electoral College vote on Monday proved that the electors did not turn faithless as Lessig wished them to. If the gloaters really want to be helpful and truly revere the Constitutions Electoral College genius, they had better realize that this war on the Electoral College is just ramping up, and must come to the defense of the Constitution at every turn.
Lessig and his ilk are not done. In an opinion piece in the New Yorker, a columnist urges upset liberals to Support Electoral College Reform by organizing to urge states to enter into the National Popular Vote Interstate Compact (NPVC). The compact has been enacted into law in eleven states that constitute 165 of the 270 Electoral votes a candidate needs to win the presidency. Compact proponents claim that as soon as states that collectively represent 105 more Electoral votes enter into the Compact, it can be used in the next presidential election, effectively circumventing the Electoral College. Each state in the compact would, instead of awarding their Electoral College votes to the winner of their state popular vote, agree to award their states electors to the national winner of the popular vote. Proponents claim the NPVC will survive the compact clause of the constitution in Article I Section 10, which says that without the approval of Congress, states cannot enter into compacts or agreements in other states. They believe it will either be labeled in court proceedings as something other than a compact, or, that Congress might well approve the compact, citing popularity across the board that the Electoral College give way to a popular vote.

What happens when the racist right-wing Republican wins those 270 electoral votes in the compact? Will he be awarded them, or do they go to the losing Rat candidate.
They’re not going to be able to do anything about it with Trump as president and the GOP controlling most of the states.
Just like the OIC...It will be disbanded when it helps the opposition.
It would take a Constitutional Amendment to get rid of the electoral college. Ain’t happening on Trump’s watch.
A surprising number of so-called red states have signed onto this thing.
Does anything good come out of Harvard anymore? Has anything good in the last 50 years?
American elections would be sooo much more fair and Democratic if California and New York got to pick our Presidents...forever.
The last compact of states defying the constitution did not turn out well for those states
The left will have to eliminate the electoral college so long as voter fraud flourishes only in isolated pockets of depravity like New York and California.
Too bad so sad for them.
With Trump appointing originalists (I hope) into the SCOTUS, they are in for a hell of a problem changing it. They can whine all they want.
That is what this election was all about in my mind. The SCOTUS.
I have explained the representational nature of the EC to people until I am blue in the face. Some just don’t get the fact that it is feature of a republican form of government—not a direct democracy — which was created by the framers of the Constitution to avoid anarchy. Taking out the bricks of republicanism will succeed in achieving what the framers feared.
The electoral college is just one of the measures the Founding Fathers took to protect the minority from the tyranny of the majority (see the equal protection clause of the 14th amendment for example).
Since the Left claims to be the champions of the minority, they should understand and embrace it.
It has a long way to go before even all the Blue States pass it. I don't see this going into effect during my lifetime.
As relentless as the Left is, we will hand it all back to them if we don't remain ever vigilant and relentless to counteract them. Our side tends to get lazy and afraid of getting down in the trenches which is why the Left has been allowed to do so much damage.
Proof that Zero/HRC were 100% confident in their vote-fraud machine, they wouldn’t have let the Merrick Garland thing slide, they really did expect her to be appointing him Jan 21.
Every day is more evidence they were truly surprised by the loss, and reason to bound out of bed to read them!
I still have a hard time believing NOBODY in the RAT party could detect their impending doom. Certainly Carville was wise to what was about to happen.

“Article Five of the United States Constitution describes the process whereby the Constitution, the nation’s frame of government, may be altered. Altering the Constitution consists of proposing an amendment or amendments and subsequent ratification. Amendments may be proposed either by the Congress with a two-thirds vote in both the House of Representatives and the Senate or by a convention of states called for by two-thirds of the state legislatures.[1] To become part of the Constitution, an amendment must be ratified by eitheras determined by Congressthe legislatures of three-quarters of the states or state ratifying conventions in three-quarters of the states.[2] The vote of each state (to either ratify or reject a proposed amendment) carries equal weight, regardless of a state’s population or length of time in the Union”
Let me know when you believe Wyoming, etc. will decide to give up their power, in favor of New York etc.
The Electoral College will not be abolished, whether de facto by the NPVC or officially by Constitutional amendment. Get over it Liberals, you lost. We will not let you rig the rules for 2020, like you did the Democratic Party nomination process this year.
It’s ended - liberals don’t have a snowball’s chance in hell to change the electoral college. No one is going to vote to give all the power to California and New York... it’s just not gonna happen.
