As Obama accomplished policy goals, his party floundered

In boasting about his tenure in the White House, President Barack Obama often cites numbers like these: 15 million new jobs, a 4.9 percent unemployment rate and 74 months of consecutive job growth.

There’s one number you will almost never hear: More than 1,030 seats.

That’s the number of spots in state legislatures, governor’s mansions and Congress lost by Democrats during Obama's presidency.

It’s a statistic that reveals an unexpected twist of the Obama years: The leadership of the one-time community organizer and champion of ground-up politics was rough on the grassroots of his own party. When Obama exits the White House, he’ll leave behind a Democratic Party that languished in his shadow for years and is searching for itself. …

The democrat’s problem is a rather simple one. The American People did not leave your party. You left them. Until you realize this you will continue to lose all the more. Your message may resonate in liberal bastions on the coasts and in the inner cities but every where else it is increasingly falling on deaf ears. Not only are “identity politics” corrosive to society at large and dignified public discourse they are also just as corrosive to your party’s identity as well.

I'm thoroughly convinced that Obama was just as responsible for Trump's victory and Hillary's defeat, if not even more so. That 50 plus percent approval rating is a lie. I guarantee 20% of the respondents give their approval but are concerned about being labeled a “racist” for their disapproval. A blind survey would show a drastically different result. He's not going to be missed by many millions of freedom loving Americans.

IMO most people vote FOR Trump and his stated goals rather than against sHitlery or O’Mugabe’s record.

Policy goals ???

Obama was doing the will of his anti-constitutional republic socialist masters.

Indeed, Obama’s approval ratings are just as much fake news as the predictions of Hillary winning in a landslide. And as much fake news as “hands up, don’t shoot” and other liberal media narratives.

Typical #fakenews outlet Newspeak. Tearing down the Constitution is a “policy goal”.

“...a Democratic Party that languished in his shadow...”

More like, it was burned by association.

A couple of other numbers Obama’s not touting:

- 95 million able bodied citizens out of work.
- $10 Trillion dollars added to the national debt.

“Unemployment only lasts 6 months.”

Under Obama, people have been collecting unemployment benefits for up to 99 weeks. I’ve read about it here, too many times to count.

Jimmy Carter, your place in history is safe - you are only the second worst President ever to have served.

The D's have given us the worst President, the second worst, and the "worst person to BE President", all within a generation.

Of course, the references are to Baraq al-Husseini, Jimmah, and the Slickster.

They must have changed the rules at some point. I know people who got it for 99 weeks.

But that was 4-5 years ago.

Let us not forget Lyndon Baines Johnson -- who gave us:

a. The Viet Nam War

b. The War on Poverty

c. The consolidated federal budget (merging the federal operating budget and Social Security).

d. The Elementary and Secondary Education Act and Higher Education Act

e. The Immigration Act of 1965

The exact order is arguable, but the last four Democrat presidents rank as the worst four presidents in our history.

“I’m unemployed. It lasted 6 months. No longer...”

Perhaps the rules have reverted back to normal in recent years, but I well remember people collecting unemployment benefits for up to 99 weeks during Obama’s first term.

Hope you find something soon.

ground-up politics

Interesting description of Democrat campaigning for the Presidency in 2016. Hamburger political thinking.
