President-elect Donald Trump has tapped South Carolina GOP Rep. Mick Mulvaney as his budget director, naming a tough-on-spending conservative and an advocate of balancing the federal budget to the important post.
An official on Trumps transition team, who was not authorized to speak publicly on the matter before it is officially announced, confirmed Trumps pick Friday evening.
Mulvaney, 49, was elected in the 2010 tea party wave and is a founder of the hard-right House Freedom Caucus, whose members pushed former Speaker John Boehner from power and have caused heartburn for current Speaker Paul Ryan. He is one of the more hard-charging members among House conservatives.

WHO'S GOT THE CRUZ PING LIST?! < /S >
I’m going to make an Advent calendar with Trump cabinet picks. Or maybe jelly of the month, it’s the gift that just keeps giving...
That is my congressman
Lighten up, Frances ... you’re not at war with conservatives. At least I hope not.
Mulvaney will be missed leaving the House; he has been one of the good guys. He’ll serve Trump well.
Count your blessings. I have Baghdad Jim McDermott and after he retires next month....Pramilla Jayapal who’s claim to fame is being slightly to the right of Kshama Sawant and a even uglier.
Nothing like having to look at repulsuve as it twlls you how you should live your entire life based upon the govt. knows better
Nice!
What can we expect?
This is what they call right-wing populism.
Balancing the budget is not incompatible with spending.
Trump is a believer in efficiency and government wastes money.
Not surprised at his pick for budget chief.
I’m with you. It would be a hoot to name each of my batches of home brew beer after each of the cabinet members. I could drink to them each time I had a beer.
Smarter spending. Trump wants to spend money on important things like the wall and infrastructure but he wants to do it on time and under budget.
Mulvaney is well qualified to help him to do it.
Winning.
The accusation that the government wastes money suggests that with some tweeking around the edges things could be more efficient. Money to the government is like virgins to Jabba the Hutt. So long as the monster lives and breathes, the public fisc will be wantonly savaged.

That’s two from SC.
Haley to the UN. Mulvaney as budget chief.
Any other state contributed more than two people?
Hopefully Trump will appoint linda as ambassador to Outer Mongolia.
Mine also
No no to Germany!!!!
Mulvaney would be a great pick.
Also, government (be it city, county, state, or Federal) is not usually predisposed to efficiency in spending money. Anyone who has ever been involved in government procurement at any level can tell you this.
I have no problem with this pick....though I’m delighted he is OUT of congress since he is a big open borders/amnesty guy.
