RIYADH: Police in the Saudi capital said on Monday they had arrested a woman for taking off her veil in public and posting pictures of her daring action on Twitter.
Police spokesman Fawaz al-Maiman did not name the woman, but several websites identified her as Malak al-Shehri, who triggered a huge backlash on social media after posing without the hijab in a main Riyadh street last month.
Maiman said in a statement that the police in the ultra-conservative kingdom acted in line with their duty to monitor "violations of general morals".

Besides that, both W and Obama have said that Islam is peaceful, and they both can't be wrong...can they?
Hillary’s friends, the Saudi’s!
Nuke it from orbit. It’s the only way to be sure.
Looking for a boyfriend?
Bonfire of the insanities.
I find it rather humorous the women in the U.S. that find Middle-Eastern men very enticing. Boy are they in for a rude awakening.
And then when you have kids, these guys take full control of them. Even if they’re in the U.S. there’s a very good chance they’ll wind up in the Middle-East and you’ll never see them again.
Saudi Arabia, sounds like they should serve in the United Nations for Human Rights, especially defending women.
War on Wimminz!
“take full control of them”? like American men do to very young Filipino girls?
What are the chances this will THRUST them into the present? I’d say NONE!
I’m on a dating site. It’s been probably two years since I’ve written to someone on it.
I’m 65 years old. You wouldn’t not believe the 18 year olds I get notifications from.
If you’re buying off on the idea that guys are only using these women, you’re zoning out.
Many of them hope to meet up with an established guy in the U.S., and inherit his belongings. Him being of sound mind, he can write a new will on an moment’s notice, and his adult children don’t have to sign on, or even know about it.
I’ve know people who lost their expected family inheritance when Filipinas struck up a marriage contract with men well into their 70s. It’s not just the money either. Family heirloom items simply vanish.
This is a two way street, when it comes to what problems can pop up.
Better looking than Huma Weiner.
Spent a year in Saudi. I saw many beautiful Saudi ladies at private dinner parties. Under the veils are some real hotties! Allah ackbar!
But John McCain doesn’t bash the Saudi tyrants as he does Putin
Laz always has the final say.what say you?
Too bad. That there is a problem, when family members "expect" an inheritance as if they worked for it. Just saying...
A friend of mine lost his mom. His dad found a Mexican girlfriend within a month, married within 6 months. All the dad's money gone within a couple years. The mom had diligently saved, and took care of finances. The new wife had adult children from another marriage, and they hit up my friend's dad for "loans" and co-signing which they never paid back. My friend and his brother didn't see a cent of inheritance, but they were well-off and didn't expect any. Friend went livid when the stepmom's family started hitting him up for loans and money, kicked them out of his life. Yeah, there are women out to get old men's money, and they're usually successful at getting it.
I have a very low expectation when it comes to inheritance. My folks earned it. I want them to enjoy it.
It does rub me wrong when people come in at the last minute, not being a part of the sacrifice and wealth building process, and then grown children who have a 60 year relationship with their parents get nothing.
Greedy? No. I think that’s a lot less greedy than a wife that has only been around for five to ten years and gets it all through manipulation.
In the case where people have done well themselves, it isn’t as bad as it could be.
I knew a person who working hard all their life. They raised a kid by themselves with lower end scale income. It would have made a very big difference in her golden years, if her father had been more considerate of her.
All his wealth, the family home for over 50 years, all the family heirlooms evaporated.
That really wasn’t right.
If he had spent it on cruises, trips overseas, or whatever, I think you could at least be thankful he got to enjoy it.
His estate was easily over half a million, and then some.
The wife of five to ten years got everything.
Don’t forget, that when people are accumulating wealth, they often times do without. The children also make by with less, in the interest of family solvency and future expectations.
Parents aren’t the only ones who work for things. The kids by being good and supportive, not complaining, are also contributing.
I’m not saying this for myself. I am saying it for kids who have a 60 plus year relationship with their parents helping them out and visa versa over the decades, to all of a sudden come up with nothing when the final family unit is ultimately cashed out.
