Pilot killed in Marengo plane crash identified as atheist activist Rob Sherman

MARENGO, Ill. — Officials have identified the pilot killed in a small plane crash over the weekend.
63-year-old Robert Sherman of Poplar Grove, Illinois died when his homebuilt Zenair CH601 crashed into a cornfield near Meyer and Pleasant Grove Rd.
Sherman was the only person on board.
The cause of the crash is not yet known.
Local officials believe it may have gone down overnight, but it wasn’t spotted until around 7 a.m. Saturday.
Sherman is an atheist activist known for his court battles dealing with the separation of church and state.

I’ve met this guy. He was a friend of our pastor and they often chatted about the subject. I saw him as nasty and could not figure the friendship between the two.
