FWIW My wife and I spend months each year working in the Eagle Ford fields, in many cases living within rock-throwing distance of a drill rig or frack site.
Never had any shaking, rattling, or rolling. Depending on wind direction, we occasionally get some fumes, but no rashes, headaches, or any other problems.
The only real problem being that close are the big diesel generators that run everything. Loud as H3LL.

What were they looking for?
The oil industry to shut down and move away from their house?
Millions of oil dollars so they could move away?
They are getting checks from the oil field. Keep the place, keep receiving the checks and move somewhere else.
Sounds like a job for Erin Brockovich and Ed Masry.
A guy here in North Texas pulled this same scam. His neighbors got enough of his BS and made him uncomfortable. So he moved to another town and tried the same deal bur the people there shut him down too.
I could hear the violin music while reading that.
The family also discovered that their breath smelled bad when they woke up in the morning and that if they didn’t shower regularly, an offensive odor arose from under their arms. One of their kitchen faucets began to drip. And lint bunnies collected under the beds in their rooms.

Given the timing, they probably should have argued that they used Chinese sheetrock for the ‘fixer-upper’ and that caused their problems. Or fumes from the carpet, if they had any. Still lots of deep pockets out there for the enterprising attorney to try to tap.
