A real actor not just a celebrity. Of course movies had actual screenplays back then and not just a bunch of CGI explosions.

Happy Birthday Mr. Douglas

PATHS OF GLORY is his best film.

Missing from the list (and one of my personal favorites).
In Harm's Way. Great cast and script all around. Given the 75th anniversary of Pearl Harbor and Douglas' 100th birthday I had to rewatch this recently.

Decades TV (which you can get over the air in many markets) is doing a tribute to Kirk Douglass.

I thought a lot of Mr. Douglas until I read and heard the accusations of him raping Natalie Wood when she was 16. I understand that Natalie’s family is not going public with the evidence until after Mr. Douglas passes. Its a sad and credible accusation.

Paths of Glory is my own personal favorite. Especially the scene where he's explaining the duty of the firing squad commander to Lieutenant Roget, knowing that it was his incompetence that lead to one the men being shot. And when Roget requests to be let out of it, the "denied" that Douglas growls is perfect for the scene.

Kirk was also a great western star. Two of my favorites:

Actors who will own these parts forever:
Charlton Heston - Moses
Yul Brenner - Ramses the Great
Kirk Douglas - Spartacus
So let it be written...so let it be done.

Surprised that no one mentioned
Seven Days in May. (Attempted military coup)
He had a great rapport with Burt Lancaster, and it showed here, and elsewhere.
