I bought a farm several years ago and one of its two ponds had a breach in its bank and water coming in to it streamed right back out through the breach. Someone told me I might be able to get some financial help from the county to have the pond bank restored. But when I made the mistake of calling I was told by some breathless bureaucrat that I would have to get approval of the EPA because there might be some rare flora and fauna that would be adversely affected by restoring the pond. I thanked them for sharing that and found a contractor who had no qualms about fixing it without any permits or inspections. Word of advice: ALWAYS do whatever you can to prevent government involvement in any aspect of your life.
