The Supreme Court oral argument that cost Democrats the presidency
Washington Post ^ | December 7, 2016 | David Bernstein

Posted on 12/08/2016 3:47:19 AM PST by C19fan

The presidential election was so close that many factors were “but-for” causes of Donald Trump’s victory. One that’s been mostly overlooked is Trump’s surprising success with religious voters. According to exit polls, Trump received 81 percent of the white evangelical Christian vote, and Hillary Clinton only 16 percent. Trump did significantly better than the overtly religious Mitt Romney and the overtly evangelical George W. Bush. He likely over-performed among other theologically conservative voters, such as traditionalist Catholics, as well. Not bad for a thrice-married adulterer of no discernible faith.

The author needs a jar of vasoline for his butthurt.

The author was just setting the tone with that comment. He appears to be a Trump supporter.

From the srticle:

In short, many religious Christians of a traditionalist bent believed that liberals not only reduce their deeply held beliefs to bigotry, but want to run them out of their jobs, close down their stores and undermine their institutions. When I first posted about this on Facebook, I wrote that I hope liberals really enjoyed running Brendan Eich out of his job and closing down the Sweet Cakes bakery, because it cost them the Supreme Court. I’ll add now that I hope Verrilli enjoyed putting the fear of government into the God-fearing because it cost his party the election.

Well, Mr. Bernstein, you provided a litany of examples of exactly this. It isn't just how Christians "feel", it's what they've seen with their own eyes.

"Bake the damn cake" seems to have been forgotten by Mr. Bernstein.

When discussing the same sex marriage that the bakery refused to bake a cake for on religious grounds, I have found so many people who say they are business people and should be forced to bake that cake.

Then I bring up the case of the supermarket refusing to make a cake for the whacky parents who had named their kid Adolf Hitler (Happy Birthday Adolf Hitler cake). Everyone thinks the Supermarket had a right to deny that cake. In fact, the kid was taken from his parents by the State of New Jersey.

Most honest people give a pause to think about the Christian bakery after you bring up the second case....

“... religious traditionalists felt that their religious liberty was under assault from liberals, and they therefore had to hold their noses and vote for Trump.” No we recognized, not felt, that our religious liberty is under assault and would continue to be under Democrats.

Oh and no reasonable person would deny that Democrats booed God at their 2012 convention.

This election was not CLOSE. Media keeps repeating that. Trump’s 306 electoral votes would amount to landslide for the Democrats. Just think how they would be crowing.

Conservative women are totally different animals. We aren’t guided by our lady parts in matters outside the bedroom.

No doubt that played a role but it overlooks major other factors related to religion that the court had nothing to di with, especially the war by Islam in us. This was directly related to Trump’s promises to curtail immigration.

Extremely over thought article designed to appeal to mental masturbaters. The ugliness of their champion stared them right in their face and they couldn’t see it. I thinks it’s because they are as ugly as she was.

Brings to mind the sentiment John Ross expressed in Unintended Consequences:

“Stripping motivated people of their dignity and rubbing
their noses in it is a very bad idea.”

This might surprise a liberal but those who read and understand the Bible know for sure that God is not averse to choosing the weakest among us to be our leaders.

Because that is EXACTLY what they want to do!

Trump won because the Republicans had an candidate who fought like a Democrat. NO OTHER Republican would have soiled themselves in that way......McCain and Romney wanted to remain ‘above’ the politics of personal destruction that the Clintons brought to DC (in 2008, McCain even told an elderly supporter that she had nothing to fear from a possible Obama Presidency!!!). Trump is the only one who could have beaten Hillary. I wasn’t a Trumpster, but I became one in the summer of 2016. Prayers that he can resurrect this country to it’s former greatness.

Christians were disturbed by hillary saying it’s okay to kill a baby up to and including, 9 months. If she had not said that, some Christians might have voted for hillary.

I used to say I didn’t see how a “Christian” could be a democrat. This year I didn’t see how a “Christian” could have thought about voting for hillay. But so many believed the media and thought Trump was such a “sinner” they couldn’t vote for him. They needed a lesson in “priorities” and what is needed for the United States to survive...
hillary is far more ‘wicked’, sinful, and wrong in every aspect. In every debate, she lied from beginning to end.. and I never understand how that many people can be fooled or just not care who she is.

Don’t know how to post pictures, but I imagine this would work better than Vaseline.
