Two senators said Wednesday they are "encouraged" by President-elect Donald Trump's pledge to reach a deal on some undocumented immigrants.
“We’re encouraged by these comments by President-elect Trump — they present an opportunity to do the right thing for more than 744,000 young people who grew up here," Sens. Dick Durbin (D-Ill.) and Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) said in a joint statement.
Trump told Time magazine that his administration would "work something out" for undocumented immigrants who were brought to the country as children.
"They got brought here at a very young age," the real estate mogul said. "And they’re in never-never land because they don’t know what’s going to happen.”

I think Trump is doing the smart thing: Placating his enemies while he waits to take the reins.

Our dream for our children and grandchildren inTexas is that they would not have to speak Spanish to get a job in Texas. It is wrong that we are forced to subsidize and accommodate millions of squatters who have no right to be here.

Exactly. I live in NC which is overrun with illegals. My daughter finished elementary school, 5th grade last year. When she started kindergarten the students were mostly white and AA. By the time she graduated in June it was overwhelmingly illegal dreamers and she was the minority. I see them all the time in Walmart. Can’t speak a work of English. We were in a car accident in April. The hospital overpadded the hospital bill, charged 24,000 for a neck CT scan for my daughter. Even with insurance we owe a huge amount which we really can’t afford. The hospital price gouges to pay for all the illegal dreamers who get free care. My husband got on the phone with the billing department and told them he knew that’s what was going on. This is a huge issue with me. Trump better not waiver. I have no sympathy. Send them all home!
I think maybe half a dozen could go live with Linda. She could cook for them. Show them how to dress.

The reality is that these Dreamers have been given SSNs, work permits, and in many cases driver's licenses depending upon the state. It will be very difficult to reverse it without a huge public fallout. Most of the public have swallowed the narrative of poor children being brought here by their parents. The law states that you just have to be here prior to age 16. It doesn't matter if you came here with your parents or arrived unaccompanied.
I can see Trump terminating the program immediately so no new "Dreamers" can be legalized. Since the DACA cards must be renewed every two years, he can say that at the time of renewal, the applicants will be fully vetted and then a determination will be made on an individual basis of whether you can stay here or not.
Obama's ICE also did not go after the illegal parents of DACA Dreamers. The parents were exempted from removal. That can stop immediately as well.
