House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi said Wednesday that Democrats won't oppose a stopgap spending bill over language that would expedite a vote next year for legislation allowing retired Gen. James Mattis to become secretary of defense.
"That will not be an obstacle," Pelosi told reporters Wednesday.
On Tuesday, Pelosi warned Republicans not to include an actual waiver for Mattis in the spending bill. The version of the bill that came out doesn't include a waiver, and instead just creates a process to speed along waiver legislation next year.

I’m really looking forward to actual budgets instead of last-minute, must-pass Continuing Resolutions. King Putt never had a stated budget in his entire reign, and the lapdog Republican Congress went along with it every time.
Tell her to blow it out her ass, put the waiver in and pass the damn thing!

That’s the House. Can Kirsten Gillibrand in the Senate kill the waiver by requiring a sixty vote supermajority? Takes just one.
Her stated intentions indicate she wants to be a thorn in Trump’s side.
