I worked on the combat systems on the Arleigh Burke class. Those are fine ships and continue to work extremely well. Designed in the late 80s/early 90s, they have been adapted to anti-ballistic missile missions over the past 15 years and I think they are the best thing we have at that, old radar and all. We still make them but I imagine eventually they'll quit, Zumwalt's are too expensive and will soak up all the budget.

Same with the F-35 most of this crap the Military did not request, it is PORK spending.

But I want to add what they did to our Navy base, we went from a training base to BUPERS record keepers, more Brass, they just finished a total except for Pharmacy remodel of the Exchange, that only needed a new roof. But did need the Pharmacy enlarged and made handicap friendly, now it is only walk in active duty friendly, since Tricare Life were DOD Mandated to use Base Pharmacy for daily meds, you have a lot more seniors who are handicapped. Medical was closed including the Hospital which has just sat empty. We have many empty buildings, yet they just built a new large duty center.

Year before they repaved 5 mph parking lot and installed $7 K speed bumps, and put in electronic price units at the Commissary, NOT 1 of those items was needed, it made all the Seniors sick, as they didn’t do it on Monday when the Commissary was closed. Did the same speed bumps at the Exchange, these were the only two to have such speed bumps installed, except the gates, which are a security issue, and different story.

Many of the buildings were upgraded when the entire south side flooded the year Nashville flooded, no one was aware of the flooding in West, TN, which was just as bad, Navy called in city bus size Serv Pro to clean up, then had to redo all the effected buildings and replace all electronics.
Housing was a total wreck.
