Obama won the presidency but lost everything else. A lot of people may have been intimidated by the threat of being called racists so they voted for him, but his endorsement was the kiss of death to most candidates. His party lost both the house and the senate under his watch. Some democrats looked like slam dunks but when Obama came to town their support collapsed.
So, yeah; a sure way to a loss.

Like obama. McCain and Romney were both too "polite" to hammer on that. I doubt if Trump would be as restrained.
