Both of these leaders are charismatic, in their 50s, widely admired, and good at details as well as at rousing grass roots enthusiasm. As full-time party leaders, either could re-energize a party in an understandable funk. None has Democratic enemies.

Just out of curiosity...why can’t they pull some southern democrat from Georgia or Louisiana? Does it have to always be some agenda-driven individual? You would think that they’ve lost all understanding of the people who make up the bulk of the party.
