So - regarding the "pizza" lingo.

What would an organized crime family do when they talk in the clear about moving contraband items ?

Maybe they'd use a code. Maybe, to make the code simple, they'd reuse the same code words for which the meanings change depending upon the context of the activity (or product) the conversation is referencing.  Maybe, to obfuscate things for outsiders, they'd even use the code words when talking about legal activity... as well.

Simple and effective.
