Just came across wires.... recount stopped by state appeals court!
Haahh! What rigamarole!
You’ve provided a wealth of useful information, thank you.
It won’t matter in the end.
Thank you.
Thank you.
Just a technical point.
We continue counting until a ruling from Goldsmith saying we can stop. He said we had to wait for ruling from him and we are not taking chances. Schedules and venues are in place and not easy to yank around.
“Andrea Bitely, a spokeswoman for Schuette, said the Michigan Court of Appeals said that there is no conflict between its order and the federal district courts temporary restraining order, so the recount should end immediately.
“To ensure clarity for Michigan taxpayers, (and as recommended in the Sixth Circuits opinion issued this evening), the Attorney General is now filing in the federal district court a motion to dissolve the temporary restraining order,” Bitely said.
Follow and root for MI AG Bill Schuette.
Just continued litigation until one side runs out of options - while at the same time not pi&&ing off any of the judges involved.
You’d think. Depends how territorial the Federal judges want to be.
Her fee was $973,250
They’ve only recounted in 8 counties
So that million dollars should be close.
The fed judge said:
“...in the event that the recount is canceled for whatever reason, Steins filing fee will be made available to the extent necessary to cover all expenses. “
All-in-all the state will probably lose some what with everyone getting prepared, even the counties that didn’t recount.
Not what my e-mail from Michigan GOP said. I am a volunteer and they said we are counting for now.
Stein et al are within their rights to pursue this through the courts as far they wish - but would it not be aggravating everyone further if they continue this lost cause?
Nice job by the state's lawyers. Watched it earlier and that was the line they took.
That’s my fellow Michigander in the know!
Absolutely.
Not as much as Bernie lost.
Had Bernie walked out of the Democratic party convention he would be in position for a hostile takeover of the Democrat party in four years, stoking anger at the super delegates each passing week.
The court ruling explicitly rejected the argument from Steins attorney that she qualified as an aggrieved party in the outcome. It then went further and scolded the Board of State Canvassers, ruling that they had a duty to reject Steins recount demand and had failed by not doing so. The board meets tomorrow at 9:30 am ET, at which point Schuette will ask them to comply.
:)
“Hillary did try to steal the election!”
Yeah right, she did all of that, all by her little self.
