There are 62 counties in New York State.
Trump won 46 of them.
Clinton won 16.
Clinton won the popular vote by approx. 1.5 million votes.
In the 5 counties that encompass NYC, (Bronx, Brooklyn, Manhattan, Richmond & Queens) Clinton received well over 2 million more votes than Trump. (Clinton won 4 of these counties; Trump won Richmond)
Therefore these 4 counties accounted for Clinton winning the popular vote of the entire country.
The same thing could be said of California’s coastal counties.
The rest of the country is coming to the realization it does not want to be ruled by NYC and coastal California.
Let’s say only 1 person lived in a county and 1 million lived in another one. I don’t see the point of counting counties. A county is a land mass.
And he won Staten Island with 57%!
Suffolk County, the East half of Long Island, also went Trump.
Wow, that’s an amazing fact.
I haven't run any numbers by county in California, but just looking at their total vote one can say the same or more about that state.
The framers didn't want NYC, Boston and Philly deciding everything when they drafted the constitution and they were oh so correct. And since as even more states and large cities became part of the US and the electoral college looks better and better.
Great post!
