While details remain sketchy, it would likely mean big changes to the generous retirement benefits given federal workers, mainly by looking to shift new employees from a defined benefit into a market-based 401(k).

He is also interested in making it easier to fire workers who perform badly and wants to reduce the federal civilian workforce, which currently numbers 2.1 million employees, not including U.S. Postal Service employees.

Most people consider private enterprise more accountable than government

More accountable to the taxpayers? Hardly.

Let's face it, under the current government circus, no one is accountable to anyone.

Federal employees are not responsible for any of that. Can you say LEADERSHIP.

Who in their right mind asks such a stupid question? Should you ask “why are the production workers at Ford producing the Edsel?”

There is plenty to complain about wrt fed employees and the government but batshit crazy crap doesn’t even do that.

It’s glaring, those in government, from the floor of the Congress to the lowest pay-grades all point fingers of blame at each other, like you just did. In D.C. no one is responsible for anything.

And you’ve just admitted you’re a subordinate to bosses who are inept, corrupt, costly and reckless. So why do you continue working for these corrupt AHs? Is it the pension?

Btw, unlike what you do, production workers at Ford actually produced products that people want.

You have “submitted” to presidents of which you did not approve and, if military, to officers who were idiots.

You also forget I’m retired, most of my service was under Republican leadership.

It is beyond doubt that most people do support environmental goals. Mostly my job was involving sewer systems and their funding which people clearly want to work.

It’s called “checks and balances” and our government was designed that way.

In fact, most large organizations demonstrate the same features.

Aside from the military and border control, a cut could not be too big.

Cut until vital service problems take place.
