“They were also meant to educate folks about wind power,” she said.

Mission Accomplished

The citizens of Port Angeles are getting an education on the economics of wind power, good and hard.

I did not say that we always have negative electricity prices, I said that have been times when we have had negative electricity prices.

And yes, different times of the year and different times of the day have different electricity consumption. A couple weeks ago, wind generated 40% of the electricity being consumed in Texas.

We see the wind mills, we see our lights on, we see utility bills falling due to deregulation and the impact of wind generation on natural gas prices.

I think having those monstrosities destroy the view would overcome any cost savings (if there really are any).

You may remember that Port Angeles was the border crossing where the Millennium Plot to bomb Los Angeles International Airport was foiled by an alert border guard at the ferry terminal.

“They were also meant to educate folks about wind power,”

Well, it's working then, because even the liberals are now learning wind power results in a net loss, just the energy needed to create the wind mills alone will never be recouped ...

“I think having those monstrosities destroy the view would overcome any cost savings (if there really are any).”

Aside from electricity prices that are negative during some non peak demand times, there has not been much cost savings.

Not just free electricity, but electricity where utilities are paid to consume electricity.

Sissi is an absolute lunatic. These lefties should be dunked into water for several hours. If they survive, they aren’t complete morons. However, they were elected. The voters there must have misshapen heads.

I am not much of a math guy, but 100,000 \ 1.50 = 66,666 months. 66,666 / 12 = 5555 years in order to receive the investment cost... This is not including other maintenance costs. Not that any of those are important as things will well decay by 5000 something years, lol.

That's the sort of thing you are SUPPOSED TO FIND OUT BEFORE YOU BUY SOMETHING...

But hey, its only tax money

I’m saving most of your text there, too.

We need to be posting that a lot. I know we’ll need to use it again and no doubt, very soon.

Yep..... I saw him a lot on Cavuto. T Boone is one savvy dude.

I admire him greatly. The fact he took advantage of the existing laqw shouldn’t be held against him.

They look kind of like a kinetic sculptor. parks waste more money on art sometimes. And they light the park too! BPA has lower rates than most. \

I wonder if the part is open after dark?

“Here in Texas, we are very educated about wind power.

We see the wind mills, we see our lights on, we see utility bills falling”

Wind power can be cost effective in some areas, and for some purposes - but it is no silver bullet. Leftists have often radically overpaid for wind, solar and other energy schemes.

Germany dumped billions of euros into North Sea wind farms, that will never be worth the cost - even though it is pretty windy there.

Bottom Line: The public should learn to demand reasonable return on investment, and closely watch politicians spending their money. Wind and solar have been among some of the very worst “investments” made by politicians.

As an aside, I recommended windmill water pumps to a Mongolian friend. They have lots of pasture land, lots of animals, and lots of wind - but lack of drinking water (far off the grid) is a common problem. Windmills should be a good solution for them, but nobody was using them. They have some brutal hard freezes in the Winter though.
