Former Green Party presidential candidate Jill Stein switched tactics in her campaign to force a recount in Pennsylvania, one of three battleground states won by Donald Trump where she has challenged the results.
The party dropped a bid to pursue the recount in a state court, citing difficulties raising a million dollar bond demanded by the tribunal. It said it would instead press on in federal court and file suit Monday.
That was also Stein's deadline for raising the bond money.
"Make no mistake -— the Stein campaign will continue to fight for a statewide recount in Pennsylvania," attorney Jonathan Abady said in a statement.
"Over the past several days, it has become clear that the barriers to verifying the vote in Pennsylvania are so pervasive and that the state court system is so ill-equipped to address this problem that we must seek federal court intervention," Abady said.
"Petitioners are regular citizens of ordinary means. They cannot afford to post the $1,000,000 bond required by the court," read a filing submitted earlier in the Commonwealth Court of Pennsylvania, announcing the state court drive was being dropped.
Stein plans to hold a rally on Monday across the street from Trump Tower in New York "vowing to fight tooth and nail to verify the accuracy, security and fairness of the vote," a statement read.

Stein was suing to make them start it sooner.

The story says that the Republicans wanted the recount to start Wednesday as the law provides for 2 days with which to contest the recount and they don’t feel they will had Republican volunteers ready before then; and the state has already stated that they could do the recount by Dec 13 if it started on Wednsday...so the judge was questioning Steins demand that it start “immediately” in stead of Wednsday. She wants the Federal judge to overturn state law on this issue.

To what end? Why start immediately?
My guess would be that if they don’t get it completed by safe harbor date, then the slate of electors certified by Michigan already will stand

If you or anyone else thinks that is cause for joy then you need to go back to the starting gate and begin again here in Michigan.
Right now there is only a VERY SLIM chance that the recount here will not happen.
And a huge chance that it won't be done in time for the EVs to be posted for Trump, no matter what they say.

Yesterday, the Green Party withdrew its demand that the State of Pennsylvania conduct a statewide recount. This withdrawal validates the state’s previous conclusion giving Donald Trump the win of its electoral votes. It also removes hope held by Clinton supporters that recounts in several other states might change the outcome of the November 8 election of Donald J. Trump to the Presidency of the United States.
Lawyers for the Green Party withdrew their lawsuit, saying they don’t have the $1 million bond required to continue the challenge filed to initiate the recount, the Associated Press reported on December 3.
The lawsuit aimed to supplant state law to force a recount, according to the Pennsylvania Republican Party.
A statement from the state party celebrated the end of the Green Party lawsuit, saying that the effort was “completely without merit” from the start.”

There was a hearing this hour in federal court where Jill Stein was trying to get the MI recount going and it just got thrown out. Yesterday the state of Michigan certified its electors and sent them to Congress but there was a slim chance Jill Stein could get a federal judge to start a recount and it was DENIED. Michigan’s electoral votes are safe for Trump.

That is not true. The Presidency would have been decided by the Florida Legislature and by Congress, exactly as laid out in Article II and Amendment XII, and as further defined by the Electoral Vote Counting Act.
Utilizing procedures designed by the Founders for EXACTLY the situation which obtained in Florida, it was impossible for Gore to become President. Gore could only have won if proper procedures were not followed - if, for example, the Florida Legislature had deferred to the Florida Supreme Court and allowed the appointment of an illegal slate of electors.
Yeah... can’t jump the gun on incomplete or inaccurate info.
