Yesterday a federally registered nonprofit election entity launched a fundraiser to cover the court costs of a lawsuit it intended to file in the name of forcing a statewide recount in the narrowly decided state of Florida. The attorney fees were fully crowdfunded within a matter of hours. And today the attorney in question announced that he has officially filed the lawsuit in question, creating at least some possibility that a Florida recount may happen.
Florida state law prohibits any candidate from requesting a recount, meaning that third party candidate Jill Stein cannot force a recount in the state even if she pays for the costs, as shes doing in Wisconsin, Michigan, and Pennsylvania. But this lawsuit is aimed at getting a judge to order a Florida recount, whether republican state officials want to do it or not.
Clint Curtis, the Florida attorney who has been hired to lead the legal charge in court, announced today via his official Facebook page that the election complaint is now indeed underway in the legal arena.
Donald Trump was officially named the winner in Florida, but by a razor thin margin, and only after Hillary Clinton had appeared to bank enough of an early vote lead in the state that it would have been all but mathematically insurmountable for Trump to have come back and won. If the courts do rule that a Florida recount must take place, and if the recount reveals that Clinton did get the most votes in the state, those electoral votes would be reassigned to clinton. Similar scenarios are playing out in Wisconsin, Michigan and Pennsylvania, with the fate of the election hanging in the balance.

Good, I hope your complaint is heard.
Actually I see Florida as a virtually lawless state. Sort of like NJ...you know.
I hope you get a good result.
Trump’s White House Counsel is former FEC attorney. I know there are several priorities for the new administration, but getting a handle on the election processes in every state MUST be dealt with ASAP. Clean it up, or 2018 and 2020 will be disasters!
November 22 The Elections Canvassing Commission meets to certify the Official Returns for federal, state, and multicounty offices at 9 a.m. on November 22 at the Florida Capitol in Tallahassee. The Elections Canvassing Commission consists of the Governor and two members of the Florida Cabinet selected by the Governor (Section 102.111, Florida Statutes).
In Florida, recounts for any races or issues on the ballot, are determined by statutory thresholds following receipt of the first Unofficial Returns, which are due from the county canvassing boards no later than noon on Saturday, November 12.
These required reporting events will provide the tools to eliminate future fraud, but note that the effective date is July 2017.

What is the point of law on which this recount is purportedly based? That an activist lawyer can get an activist judge to order just about anything he likes?
They aren’t nuts; they are trying to de-legitimize Trump. Tried with Bush II, and it didn’t work at all.
It covers:
Automatic Recounts
Requesting a Recount
Cost of the Recount
Recent Legislative Action on Recounts
The following is a PDF download that has state by state rules, but I can only point you to it via a google search results page.
Thank you.
We’re going to get recounts and challenges every time the Dims don’t like the outcome from now on.
I have read that GOP legislatures in some states where this crap is going on are going to revisit the laws governing recounts to make them more restrictive. The law in MI is especially onerous, where taxpayers are on the hook for paying for recounts.
That has been the case since 2000. Why would they change now? Every Presidency that has been won by a Republican has been contested (Bush and now Trump) because the claim popular vote victories for the Democrats (though Bush won by 2 million votes in 2004 - instead they claimed that election was stolen). This is done to call into question the legitimacy of the Republican Presidents, and to build support to replace the Electoral College with the popular vote for deciding a Presidential election.
You're welcome BTW. I came across those this year when researching recounts because I thought you had to have skin in the game (A.K.A. standing) myself and was shocked from what I learned.
This is a nonjusticeable political question.
I think you only need to flip 60,000 votes which is half. You would need to manufacture 120,000 votes. Flipping has 2X the impact. One less for Trump and one more for Hillary is a total of 2.
A lot of people are missing the point of the recounts. You add votes if you can hoping to get enough for a recount at which time you flip votes. The same is true for PA. The goal is to flip PA not remove it.
113 000 votes.
“Recounts”, are they a thing of the future?
I anticipate we have not seen the last of the “sore loser”, recount epidemic currently underway. I also believe that future elections will be in constant question UNLESS something is done to stop all this bullsh$t.
oh, no ... they don’t go away, the regroup and recount.
Stein this morning said they are going into FEDERAL court to demand a PA recount, stating that the state court cost was too costly, so on “Constitutional grounds” they are asking a federal court to demand the PA recount.
