It wasn’t my concern that Trump might be using him, but more importantly that Kissinger was going there without consultation.
If they are working together, my opposition is not warranted.

We need to be unified right now, and trashing him or his methods is just ignorant right now.
Well I certainly don’t know if they planned this together, but the fact that Kissinger met with Trump two weeks ago, and now this HK visit to Beijing coincides with the Taiwan phone call suggests to me that there is coordination. Surely Trump and HK discussed China issues, and either HK’s trip was already planned or else he did in response to something he and Trump discussed. Either way, I find it difficult to believe that Trump did not work through how to approach Taiwan/PRC issues with HK while he had the chance.
It will be interesting to see how this develops, but I suspect all the hysterics in the media are going to be embarrassed yet again.
