A Mexican official from the city that just lost out on 1,000 jobs it expected to take from an Indiana Carrier plant says that Donald Trump is "telling the truth" when he rails against U.S. job losses . Jaime Garcia Astorga, secretary of economic development of Santa Catarina in the state of Nuevo Leon, told CNBC on Friday that "nobody" believed the president-elect was serious when he "made a lot of declarations" to voters about keeping U.S. jobs in the United States.

“Nuevo Leon, told CNBC on Friday that “nobody” believed the president-elect was serious when he “made a lot of declarations” to voters about keeping U.S. jobs in the United States”
Untrue.
I believed him.
And I think that most of the 13,000,000 who voted for him believed him as well.
EXACTLY!!!!!!!!!!
They are FAR from over. But Trump will set them back some.
and there’s the payoff that puts all the critics to shame.
it’s a big, complicated game with flexibility, and finesse at a premium. no one, including President Trump, better doubt the risks either.
Sure looks like it.
If I were Trump, I would urge corporations to invest in Mexico too.
There’s no problem with good economic activity on both sides of the border.
We should address it as helping our friend to the South.
We could pull Mexico out of it’s poverty, and win a lot of support from it’s citizens.
Our companies could reap big profits, and re-invest here and there.
There’s no reason the U.S. and Mexico can’t prosper here.
An American political leader stood by his word. And everyone is immediately thrown into a state of confusion and catatonic shock.
You mean the 60 million.
There’s no reason any country in the world can’t prosper.
But the problem has and always will be that countries are run by humans, and when you’re in charge of millions of people you tend to have a lot of a power. Which corrupts tons of people.
“We could pull Mexico out of its poverty,”
Not a chance. Not while their national euro-descended oligarchy, and their unique version of Catholicism are both benefiting from keeping the masses ignorant and in poverty are changed.
The problems in Mexico are deep inside it’s operating system. It’s not that they lack opportunity. As a nation they possess oil and gas,, access to the Atlantic and Pacific, every mineral known to man, timber, fine farmland, a solid if uneducated workforce, no threat of external invasion or war, Gold, Silver, you name it.
The reason they are constantly poor is the two pillars of their society.
I agree.
Investment talks too though.
I think it would be very helpful if things like fast food franchises flourished down there.
Sounds rather simple, low paying jobs, but it gets people to work, they spend their earnings, and other jobs are created. Some of them will be higher paying jobs.
It’s kind of like economic seeds.
You betcha’! I believed him as well. Just as I believe he will build a great wall to protect Americans from the illegal invaders BO’B and, yes, even Bush (both of them) allowed to come into our country unabated.
PE Trump is the first candidate for whom a vote was cast because he was believed (having missed the opportunity to vote for Reagan the first time) valid excuse shown upon request.
“The reason they are constantly poor is the two pillars of their society.”
Every former Spanish colony is corrupt. That is why they are still poor.
Does that include Florida, Texas, and New Mexico? (I already know the answer to much of California)
If Trump is really saavy, he’ll take advantage of California’s recent legalization of Medicinal Marijuana, develop it and market it efficiently, and in 4 years the US will be exporting marijuana to Mexico.
Then leverage the drug cartels to his agenda.
I was speaking of sovereign nations, but as far as the Spanish influence persists, yes.
Only problem is you have to build from the ground up. People aren’t going to be going to fast food if they don’t have a job and money.
They need to clean out their government from the top down. EVERYONE in Mexican government and LE is corrupt or knows people who are and turn a blind eye. Then they need to get rid of the gangs, just kill them all. Then they can have their country prosper.
“You mean the 60 million.”
yes. what you said!
New Mexico is corrupt, trust me.
