Supreme Court Pick Coming Soon
Political Wire ^ | December 2, 2016 | Taegan Goddard

President-elect Donald Trump said he had narrowed his choices for a potential Supreme Court nominee to “three or four” candidates and that a decision would be coming “pretty soon,” Politico reports.

Said Trump: “They are terrific people, highly respected, brilliant people and we’ll be announcing that pretty soon too.”

One strategy says that he is naming so many people, so fast, they really can’t Alinsky-ize anyone.

I don’t know...she is 58. Would rather they be at least a few years younger to start out, of course you never know - someone younger isn’t guaranteed to live any certain amount of time either. Robert Young is already 65 years old...that’s too old - we want the solid conservative justices to be there for decades if possible.

No women, please. Every ... Single ... One we’ve had has been an unmitigated disaster.

Don't understand that comment - there have only been 3 women justices and the only woman that has been appointed by a Republican was Sandra Day O'Connor. The only other two women justices were Ginsburg and Sotomayor, appointed by Clinton and Obama respectively. Not exactly a long track record for you to make such a sweeping comment. The women have been no more or less "unmitigated disasters" than any number of their male counterparts.

No for SCOTUS. Maybe a district judgeship or Court of Appeals judgeship, though.

No way - just a publicity hound and he is already about 70 years old.

The Senate is going to take as much time as it wants, and there is a fairly big chore for the nominee to prepare disclosures. Might as well give the nominee time to get the disclosure prepared, so confirmation meetings and hearings can start right away in the new Congressional term.

If the Senate DEMs want to Bork a nominee, the Senate Republicans will let them try. Just saying, trying to give the Senate less time, so the DEMs do less damage, won't work.

Why give the media and Democrats (redundant) so much time to dig up dirt and come up with a battle plan?

Because after the Left goes through their motions now, Trump will get inaugurated and all the arguments will already be heard and Congress will nominate him/her. And that's checked off Trump's list.

Roy Moore - PLEASE!
I am flatly in favor of selecting from Trump’s list, published during the campaign. No one else should be considered, because that list is certifiably mainstream. Every name on that list constituted a potential target; if any one of them had been problematic, the Democrats would have tarred the whole list with it. Greatly to their advantage during the campaign.

The conclusion is that Trump’s list constitutes the mainstream; any Democrat claim that any person selected from that list is “out of the mainstream” could be ridiculed mercilessly by the Republicans - especially by Republicans running for the 25 Senate seats the Democrats have to defend in 2018. Ten of those seats represent states won by Trump this year . . .

TED CRUZ!

A strict constitutional just like Scalia. He has pissed off a bunch of people in the Senate both democrat and republican that would probably vote yes just to get rid of him. That is a win. Thirty Five years of Cruz in the Senate is a game changer for our nation.

My great governor of Texas Greg Abbot, would appoint a new constitutional to replace him until a special election. The new guy would win easily. I like the name Gomert.

ps
An aside about my great governor Abbot, during the last election he was accused of racism by his idiot oppontet, Abortion Barbi also known as Wendy Davis.

Abbot is married to a Mexican lady, as I. It was amusing and devastating to see his wife stand up for him and his mother in law to do the same in a very heavy Mexican accent. His mother in law spoke about her son in law in terms that were not my son in law but my son. It was absolutely beautiful.

justices...Target is probably Schumer....who said...IMOW....Donald...Boy you better pick main stream folks or you’re gonna hafta deal with me”.
. . . which is where the list Trump put out before the election comes in. If any one of those names was problematic, the Democrats should have spoken out against them, and made serious hay against Trump. They defaulted on that - and now Trump’s list defines the mainstream.

That list constituted a campaign promise. One that Trump would be ill advised, IMHO, to break.
