A Catholic college reported a crude Post-it note to city police as a hate crime because it told students to suck it up in response to Donald Trumps election.
First Amendment experts say that while Wisconsins Edgewood College can punish students for even constitutionally protected speech, it cannot seek to use police to punish such speech as a crime.
And the police agreed. A spokesman for the Madison Police Department told The College Fix Thursday that a parole officer and detective already looked into the report and found no immediate threat.
Hence, theres no further case activity and its not an open investigation, the spokesman said.

The controversy started after an Edgewood student encouraged others to write their feelings about the election on notes and place them on a public table, Campus Reform reported, citing a letter to the community from Vice President for Student Development Tony Chambers.
One such note mocked students who were upset about Trumps victory. It read Suck it up pussies! and was placed on a window inside the Office of Student Diversity and Inclusion, rather than on the public table.

“Hate Crime” is illegitimate law, unconstitutional at the federal level and unjust at the state level.
This is what we are turning our young people into. Shadows of real human beings.
Sad to think how many “Catholics” these days seem to endorse left wing strongarm tactics.
“Suck it up” is not a hate crime, nor is mere mention of the name “Trump.”
“The controversy started after an Edgewood student encouraged others to write their feelings about the election on notes and place them on a public table...”
Encourage people to write their feelings, then claim “hate crime” when you don’t like their feelings. I believe you would get more logic out of kindergartners than you would out of the average college student nowadays.
Geez. If I were a college administrator and someone complained about finding a Post-It note with “Suck it up, pussies” on it, I think I’d tell the person complaining to take the advice on the note.
This “race crime” law nonsense needs to be repealed.
All it does is give easily offended snowflakes some legal avenue to retribution.
I agree, it’s another of those things where “I’ll know it when I see it” and is forever measured by a rubber ruler at the whim of whomever wants to twist or contort it to their own ends. I don’t know what it would take to eliminate this but it should be.
If it is federal law, states can and should exercise their constitutional sovereignty and nullify and reject such law as unconstitutional and, therefore, unenforceable.
If it is state law, then the people of the state must rise up and move by initiative, prostitution, and/or election to have these unjust “hate-crime” laws struck down.
My parents were such haters. “Suck it up, work harder.”
How did I survive?
“That would include most of my family: indifferent about abortion, pro-gay marriage, and silent about violence on the left.”
That would be me also. My SIL (my brother is deceased but would be the same) used to be a neo-natal nurse and has claimed to be pro-life all the time I’ve known her but always votes for the dems and lately I’ve gotten in trouble for letting it be known that I voted Trump. I’ve been blocked and de-friended by most of my nieces and nephews. Very sad. I love those people. sigh. I did get past the threatened rift with one of my sons. We’re okay. But how sad.
It is very sad and maddening that people we love are so brainwashed, on purpose, by our government.
Today Snowflakes get bunnies to pet. 1941-45 my brothers and I got bunnies, to raise for food, for us and neighbors! We also got chickens, ducks and turkeys.
PETA be Damned!
Let’s see if we’ve got this straight.
A “Suck it up” note at a small college may be a hate crime. But death threats made (by those like those `threatened’) against US presidential electors are insignificant.
More Obama Jabberwocky nonsense.
I called the # they gave for counseling so as to help me with my feelings! I told the woman a fake name and that since the election I was having a hard time getting the smile off of my face and that my range of emotions were that of Elation to outright giddyness! And I needed to speak to someone..honest injun!
