MADISON, Wis. (WBAY) Supporters of President-elect Donald Trump have filed an emergency motion asking a court to halt the presidential election recount in Wisconsin.
The suit was filed Friday by Great America PAC, Stop Hillary PAC, and Wisconsin voter Ronald R. Johnson.
The filing says the recount threatens to violate the Equal Protection rights of Johnson and other Wisconsin voters, citing the Supreme Courts decision on Bush v. Gore in the 2000 presidential election recount. The filers claim the rules for Wisconsins recount suffer from comparable constitutional deficiencies as the 2000 recount in Florida.
The document states the Wisconsin recount requested by Green Party candidate Jill Stein violates voters Due Process in two ways: 1. theres a risk it may not be completed by the Dec. 13 deadline, and 2. chaotic rushing necessary to meet the deadline presents an unreasonable risk of error.

The filing states that Stein, who received 31,006 votes in Wisconsin, has no prospect of winning Wisconsin or any state.
The filing also refers to the recount as a fundraising stunt for Stein, and accuses her of acting as a stalking horse for democratic candidate Hillary Clinton.
Clinton did not request a recount but has joined Steins recount.
Trump defeated Clinton in Wisconsin by about 22,000 votes.
Action 2 News has reached out to attorneys listed for the plaintiffs. They said Our message to you is no comment.'
Wisconsin Elections Commission tweeted that the recount will continue unless a judge orders it to stop.

Those who said,
“The election of Trump will destroy America” were right.
They are now rioting, and destroying America...
Everyone that can needs to bring full legal efforts to stop these people. Don’t assume anything..sue,sue,sue...
Great move!! The WI supreme court is under Republican control.
This was filed in U.S. district court Western District of Wisconsin. Know anything about that court?
Part and parcel of the Clinton campaign plan was to sneak past the sleeping dragon. They were hoping Trump and his supporters would be so enthralled with their victory and transitioning to a new administration that they would not notice the Clinton plot to steal the election until it was too late.
I agree with others that this should effectively end the recount since the State Supreme Court is in GOP hands. But, never forget that a Federal Court can get involved at a moments notice.
Ooops, upon further review this was filed in Federal Court. I sure would have chosen state court here.
Not definitely.
They had to choose a federal court because the issue they are raising is a constitutional issue about equal protection, the one that resolved Bush V Gore when the supreme court ruled it was unequal to count some ballots and not others, or to have each county setting their own rules for how ballots would be counted.
Pretty sure they filed in US District Court so they could invoke the equal protection clause as ruled in Bush v Gore.
Wisconsin recount law was foolishly crafted to allow an equally foolish candidate to waste their money if they wanted to for whatever reason. So, they would have likely lost in State Court.
Madison....all RAT judges....
Should allay the concerns of those who thought Trump was caught sleeping - may not be his team directly but he has had a team watching things like hawks.
Huzzah!
The Trump supporters should seek recounts in Nevada, New Hampshire, and Minnesota.
AMEN!!!!!!!!
Congress should refuse to count the fraudent Shillery votes from those 3 states. And maybe from Cali unless the state cooperates with a comprehensive investgation of illegal aliens voting.
Also, abolish the incompetent DC city goverment and appoint a commision of competent Republicans to rule the city, have the commision appoint Republican electors.
