I think she has more influence with him than either of his sons and that reality has been widely acknowledged in the press by the sons that she has more influence than either of them over the Trump Organization; so yes, I think she has a great deal of influence over him, which is not the same as control.
She was the only one of his children to make what amounted to a policy speech at the Republican Convention (about women’s issues and childcare), and Trump repeatedly, perhaps 100 times or more, gave her credit in his rally speeches for her views about women’s issues; in particular he said she developed a lot of his childcare platform, which I did not feel was very favorable to the institution of marriage or traditional Republican conservatism.
So, control him? No one does. But influence him unduly? Yes, she has in the past. Let’s see what happens going forward.
I do know he is very aware of public opinion and can also be influenced by a tweet storm against a given idea. Clearly he releases rumors to see what the reaction will be.
A SHONDA!
Has she unduly influenced him in your mind to date???
A Jew is a Jew is a Jew is a Jew is a Jew is a Jew is a Jew.
Your guess is as good as mine, and the apparent non-necessity of her moving there has people concerned that she will stick her nose in where it doesn't belong at her dad's invitation, which would definitely be a problem.
Some freepers have speculated that her husband will have a spot in the administration; but others have said federal nepotism laws also rule out in-laws; so I don't know. Someone said she should oversee the Trump Hotel in DC, but given the large numbers of properties they manage around the world, that really isn't necessary, either.
But to a non-Jew, there is no compelling need to observe a Jewish rule about how to discuss the matter. Again, where did this rule come from? I am genuinely interested whether it is a scriptural rule, or rather a long-held custom, or if it is different between orthodox, conservative or reform traditions.
Allen West tells press he met with Michael Flynn, KT McFarland & Pence about natl security. Didn't meet with Trump. "They know my record."
Think. Jack and Bobby Kennedy. Did anyone ask them to give up their family fortune? Not both be involved in politics?
There are nepotism laws in the FedGov that they need to respect. She can't have an appointed position in his admin.
From a business standpoint, none of his grown chlidren have ever been called to reside in any of the Trump Org properties to oversee them. it would dilute the roles of the on-site dedicated top management and cause more trouble than it would be worth.
So if the main point of her moving to DC would be to allow her to meddle in the administration, that would not be good for Trump's image as a decisive leader who can't be unduly influenced.
He also said we wouldn't always like his choices but he was making them in his JUDGEMENT deciding who was best for our country and who will get the job done.
You never remind a Jew they converted. It would be like introducing you, “this is Albion Wilde who stole a pack of gum from a 7-11 when he was five years old.”
I read somewhere on FR that the Fed nepotism laws were passed after the Jack/Bobby assassinations, and possibly because of that situation. Anyone have more info?
[its a sin to point out someone converted to Judaism proper to say theyre just Jews.]
She was a Christian and converted to Judaism. Why is defining it a ‘sin’?
As noted above, I did not feel her child care program was favorable to traditional marriage, and hence, not coming from conservative thought but rather from liberal/progressivism.
We get our prescriptions at Safeway.
The price is the same as Walmart, which will tell you they have the better prices but not so.
We used to get them at Walmart until the pharmacist lied to my hubby and then lied again when he said he didn’t say the 1st thing.
We have a lot of options for a small community but prefer Safeway since one son works there.
Do you have Safeway up there?
Thanks for these thoughts Albion, I think we will all need to give and take a bit for Trump to be successful.
I was shopping with hubby.
You are welcome. :-)
Stating a fact is not the same as making a negative attack or even a negative assumption. I understand what you are fearing — that someone might try to use the fact of conversion as a negative — but that’s not what’s going on here; just the opposite. The fact that Trump has both Jewish and Christian relatives is a positive asset in his ability to uphold Mosaic-law-based Constitutional norms. He has a personal stake in respecting Jews and the Jewish people, both in Israel as our ally and of course within our nation.
Looking good.
