Thanks for these thoughts Albion, I think we will all need to give and take a bit for Trump to be successful.
Bottom line, it would be unrealistic for any American to think any president will fulfill all of their political desires. I certainly don’t think it’s remotely possible; besides, my personal Savior is Jesus.
However, I do think Trump listens to responsible public opinion, so If people don’t like something he is about to do, they should let him know.
Years ago as a very small business owner, I used to write and call my congressman so frequently. But for the past manyyears, particularly since I moved to the blue state of Maryland, my senators and congressmen not only do not listen or say they have made a note of my point of view; they usually send a letter containing a Marxist lecture on why my point of view is wrong and announce why they are going to continue to promulgate socialist legislation. I gave up even trying after our horrendous “town hall” over Obamacare, during which Senator Cardin’s arrogance was breathtaking and the anger of the crowd was unmistakeable — but he didn’t care.
So it is amazing that Trump “heard” the people. We have become brainwashed not to expect it.
Very well said. It was hard for me too when this was brought up but at the time my husband’s niece and her husband both lost their jobs at a company. Both with degrees but also have twin two month old babies. They live away from family and both her mom and dad are dead. They were Bernie voters. When it came down to their political views it meant nothing to me. I worried about the care they needed for the babies until they found jobs. So I was torn on the childcare. Now she has a good job and her husband is a stay at home dad. I still send clothes to them but not everyone has family who can do this. I’m one who has decided to be more open to change.
