What’s the difference?
If there’s a draft, you’re signed up for it. Right?

I objected to the title of the article.
We haven’t had a ‘draft’, where people were called up and had to serve (if they couldn’t ‘get out’) since VN times.
We have a volunteer army now. You register at 18, in the *event* of a draft.
It may be just semantics, but the title of the article was very possibly and unnecessarily frightening.
(I don’t believe that women should be required to register, if that’s your concern. Women don’t belong in combat.)
