Controversy around the Atlanta MARTA trains years ago was suburbs not wanting urban “desert” people to have easy access to “food oasis” suburbs. MARTA was said to stand for Moving Africans Rapidly Through Atlanta. Some outlying counties opted out for this reason. Nice thing about MARTA is you can get on it at the airport and get to town cheap. I was visiting my brother in Decatur and told him I’d just catch the MARTA from the airport and call him from the Decatur station. He said nope, at that time of night you’re not.

Yea, I’ve rode Marta from Airport to the end of the northern line.

No way I’d get off there after midnight.

Same reason the DC Metro never put a stop in Georgetown on the Orange Line.. They claimed the river was in the way. Ha ha.
