I’m a me-first kind of budgeter. Living on a fixed income does that. I really object to overpaying for goods, especially from places that produce them with slave labor, and then having the money go for pet projects of the elite.

Also I will 99.9% of the time (only if the “me first” criteria are otherwise met) NOT buy something for which the seller or manufacturer promises to donate something to charity for every item sold. I prefer to select my own charities to receive any of my funds, and am not motivated by an offer for corporate retailers to make those decisions for me.
