It wasn’t an apology, but former Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney appears to be embracing President-elect Donald Trump in a stunning turnaround from his days as a prominent leader of the Never Trump movement.

After joining Trump for dinner at Jean-Georges restaurant in New York City, Romney made a lengthy statement to the press pool of reporters, remarking that he had a “wonderful evening” visiting with the president-elect.

“These discussions I’ve had with him have been enlightening, and interesting, and engaging. I’ve enjoyed them very, very much,” he said.

He expressed hope for America under the leadership of Donald Trump, confidently telling reporters that the country’s best days were ahead.

“All of those things combined give me increasing hope that President-elect Trump is the very man who can lead us to that better future,” he said.

I’ve been waiting for an apology. It’s as close as I’m going to get I guess. Now Donald can go ahead and choose someone else.

When Reagan picked Richard Schweiker as his running mate in 1976 I was stunned and shocked. “How could you?” But after that Schweiker turned around. He learned from the gipper and came to love him. He later served on Reagans cabinet and nobody minded at all.

Yeah he did stay true to Reagan after 76

My brother and I had a long discussion with him when he gave a talk to the Young Republicans before he saw the light in 76

He finally broke away and said he had to get a drink at the bar

The Flipper is back.

Let’s hope Trump didn’t “win this one for the Flipper”!

Romney’s big problem is that he gets his info from the lefty press and he believes it. His jaw-dropping failures in debates - against Ted Kennedy years ago and against Obama - were because he bought into the lefty media narratives. When he found himself on the wrong side of those narratives, he locked up mentally. What he thought he knew about Trump came through the MSM so he “knew” Trump was a raging, slavering monster from the id.

Now he’s met and talked to Trump and can see that he’s actually reasonably normal so I’m ok with him adjusting his assessment based on ground truth vs. propagandistic myth.

Speaks (screams) volumes of the character of the man. I think of the interview he gave where he said “I have to consider what I’m going to tell my grandchildren when they ask what I did to stop Trump from being President.” He needs to add “and then when he won, I went grubbing for a prime position in his administration, because I’m a political whore.” Explain that expediency to your grandkids, Mitt.

Character isn’t only what you do when nobody is watching, Mitt. It’s also what you do when it personally costs you to maintain your standards and integrity. I’d have a LOT more respect for Mitt if he had told Trump he still didn’t think he was the right man for the job and wouldn’t associate his name with Trump’s administration. Instead, he prostituted himself. Not that that surprised any of us.

There is nothing remotely Reaganesque about putting Romney in any position of power.

We are talking about a man who said (among other things) “Here’s what I know. Donald Trump is a phony, a fraud. His promises are as worthless as a degree from Trump University. He’s playing the members of the American public for suckers: He gets a free ride to the White House and all we get is a lousy hat.”

Reagan wouldn’t have supported anyone who said anything remotely like that.

It is not the time to kneel down to (or bend over for) the RINOs. It is time to stand strong and move forward. Move past them and make America Great Again. That would be Reaganesque.

-—You said, “Move past them and make America Great Again. That would be Reaganesque.” -—

Great but how do you get the agenda through? The RINO nevertrumper rascals are not going to roll over and die, they are going to unite with the Demwits and block reform at every level. Is there nothing to be done?
