President-elect Donald Trump plans to nominate former Labor Secretary Elaine Chao to head the Transportation Department, a source with knowledge of the decision said on Tuesday. The source, who requested anonymity, confirmed the pick to Reuters. Chao, the wife of Republican Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, served as labor secretary under President George W. Bush and was the first Asian-American woman to hold a Cabinet position. The formal announcement was expected Tuesday afternoon. Although Trump spoke on the campaign trail about wanting to "drain the swamp" in Washington, more than half of Trump's nine key appointments so far have been accomplished Washington insiders, such as Chao.

Not funny.
At all.
I was never #nevertrump. I always said I’d vote for whoever won the nomination.
I always judge fairly based on consistent standards. I think Kellyanne Conway was a brilliant hire.
The drain apparently leads to a sewage treatment facility that reroutes back into the drinking water supply.
“I always said Id vote for whoever won the nomination.”
While posting a gazillion anti-Trump articles during the campaign before you disappeared from the discussions after the convention as I recall.
“I think Kellyanne Conway was a brilliant hire.”
I concur. I’m confident Trump knows what he is doing just as I am confident none of us do.
True. Too much micromanaging on these threads.
Just because a person is an “insider” should not be disqualifying, in and of itself. The President-elect is known for putting the best people in place to accomplish the task.
Looks she’s already done some swamp draining of her own.
<<During Chao’s first four years as Secretary of Labor, OSHA did not promulgate a single significant health standard.<<

Word from Team Trump: they think she is very good here.
He has to have experienced people to navigate around DC to get the draining done.
I’m not a fan of Washington insiders, but from what I’ve seen I do agree with that.
Well, you have to leave something for the second term!
Hey Jedi....
Care to explain this comment you made in another thread?
“Trumps already moderated on several campaign promises (jail for Hillary, Iran deal, Obamacare repeal, climate change agreement, the wall). His feet have to held to the fire. Anyone who would blindly assume any politician is going to keep their word on anything is not thinking clearly”
I am still waiting for your response Mr. Never Trumper
You can always go and sign up for DU, you would fit in over there. They will even give you your own crying room and a participation trophy
“We seem to be getting the same old creatures from the establishment. I thought Trump was draining the swamp.”
Bush Labor Secretary. McConnell’s wife. Chinese Communist ally.
This is not draining the swamp.
Jedi makes a good point.
Bush cabinet re-tread.
Is that what we voted for when voting for Trump?
I was against her being in Bush cabinet then and I don’t like her for this admin either.
Obviously there could be worse, but there could be a lot better.
So what’s your beef with Asians and why do you post this crap?
Not a Bush cabinet retread
I trust Trump to pick people who are both competent and loyal to the administration. Trump has a lot of great picks, some maybe not what we were hoping for, but hey, this is Trump’s decision. Let him do his job and re-evaluate in a couple years. Remember they have to perform up to Trump standards, not lazy government standards that they are used to
What it looks like to me is that Trump is playing chess here, he is lining up the pieces in perfect formation. In the end of the day, that is how the game is played and won, and Trump likes to win.
Love it, but you are a copy cat :) ... I posted the same thing when we first started talking about potential cabinet picks 3 weeks ago.
“Not a Bush cabinet retread”
She was Bush’s Labor Secretary.
