I’m not a fan of Petraeus. I’ve heard awful things about his personality and how he treated people from friends at the CIA.
That said, I’ll take him over Romney in a heartbeat.

He was asked about Petreaus because a character in his last thriller seemed to be based a bit on Petraeus (high-ranking military intelligence officer in Iraq having clandestine affair). Flynn said he had met Petraeus and got a bad vibe from him. He struck Flynn as a "political general" who had an overly developed sense of self-importance.
